How to replace a toilet fill valve (ball cock)

1. Close the water supply valve to the tank.if the valve does not stop
   the water close the main water valve for the house and install a new
   valve for the tank.
2. Flush the bowl and hold the tank lever down to drain the water from
   the tank,excess water can be removed by using a sponge.
3. Disconnect water supply nut from fill valve(ballcock).
4. Disconnect nut from fill valve.remove refill hose from overflow tube
   then lift fill valve from tank.
5. If using a fill valve with float attached,adjust the height of the 
   fill valve so the
   top of the valve will be below the top of the tank.
6. Place valve in tank and tighten lock nut under tank
7. Connect refill hose to overflow tube(connect with clip)
8. Connect water supply nut to fill valve.
9. Open any valves that you closed and check for leaks
10.Adjust water level in tank by moving float up or down(press the lock clip)
   ( water level should set to mark on overflow tube-or about 5/8" below 
     top of overflow tube)
11. Place tank lid on tank
