Don't walk behind me, I may not lead.
Walk beside me and be my friend

I want to live to be a hundred minus one day,
so I never have to live without you.

3 WORDS OF STRENGTH
(Fredrick Von Schiller)
There are three lessons, I would write
Three words as with a burning pen
In tracing of eternal light
Upon the hearts of men

Have hope. Through the clouds environ around
And gladness hides her face in scorn
Put off the shadows from thy brow
No night but hath its morn

Have faith. Where thy bark is driven
The calm disport, the tempest mirth
Know this: God rules, the host of heaven
The inhabitants of earth

Have love. Not love alone for one
But man, as man thy brothers call
And scatter like circling sun
Thy charities on all

SOMETIMES REACHING A DREAM TAKES COURAGE (Caroline Kent)
Courage is admitting that you're afraid and facing that fear directly
Its being strong enough to ask for help and humble enough to accept it

Courage is standing up for what you believe in without worrying about the opinion of others
It's following your own heart, living your own life and settling nothing less than the best for yourself

Courage is daring to take a first step, a big leap or a different path
It's attempting to do something that no one has done before and all others thought impossible

GOOD DOG, BAD DOG
A native american elder once described his own inner struggles in this manner:
"Inside of me there are two dogs. One of the dogs is mean and evil. The other dog is good. The mean dog fights the good dog all the time."
When asked which dog wins, he reflected for a moment and replied:
"The one I fed the most."

NAIL IN THE FENCE
There was once a little boy who had a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that everytime he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the
fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there. "A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. Friends are very rare jewels, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share words of praise and they always want to open their heart to us."
