THE LONGEVITY PRACTICE - ESSENCE OF
IMORTALITY
ACCORDING TO THE HEART ESSENCE OF THE GREAT SIDDHA
(Homage to the great Vidyadhara of immortality who is utterly free
from fixation of birth and death.
The one who wishes to approach his level
Should in a secluded place, upon a stand,
Arrange life-arrow, vase and pills,
Life-wine, offerings and torma.
Following the root text for preliminaries and activity,
Open the recitation-palace after the praises.)
Ah
In the heart center is the wisdom being Padmakara.
He is white with a red radiance, holding vajra, skull and vase.
In the center of his heart, is a sphere of a tine colored net of light,
Is the letter HRIH which joined sun and moon.
Around it circles the garland of the root mantra.
The radiating and returning rays of light gathers the 1ife-nectar of
samsara and nirvana.
By dissolving into the unified spare of the central channel I accomplish
the immortal life of vajra wisdom.
OM GURU AMARANI JIVANTIYE SVAHA
(Sometimes recite the most secret single HRIH. In between sessions,
in order to gather the nectar of longevity, [say])
OM AH HUNG HRIH HRIH VAJRA GURU PADMA SIDDHI PUNYE GYANA AYUR SIDDHI
JAH
(Recite while emanating and absorbing as the samadhi visualizatiofl
And with the tones of deep-felt devotion.
If you exert yourself for three weeks
You will dispel obstacles and be blessed,
And attain all siddhis without exception.

In the unchanging palace of primordial purity,
I invoke the heart samaya of the Primordial Protector.
Gather the life-nectar of the Youthful Vase Body!
Bestow the siddhi of changelessness!
In the self-manifest palace of spontaneous presence,
I invoke the heart samaya of the five families of life lords.
Gather the life-nectar of the five wisdoms!
Bestow the siddhi of vajra great bliss!
In the unfixed palaces of taming beings,
I invoke the heart samaya of the life-mastery Vidyadhara.
Gather the five-nectar of samsara and nirvana!
Bestow the siddhi beyond birth and death!
In the palace embodying the three kayas,
I invoke the heart samaya of Thangtang Gyalpo.
Gather the life-nectar of great luminosity!
Bestow the siddhi of the vajra rainbow body!
In the palace endowed with the supreme of all aspects,
I invoke the heart samaya of the wisdom dakinis.
Gather the life-nectar of the four elements of the world and beings!
Ripen my three doors into the pure essences!
Within this vajra mandala of the great secret,
Show forth a sign for this life-arrow!
Transmute the sadhana articles into wisdom nectar!
Bestow the supreme and common siddhis!

By emanating, life-energy fills appearance and existence.
By absorbing, it is sealed beyond change
In the sphere of the single circle;
Dissolved in the space endowed with the supreme of all aspects.

(In order to receive the siddhi after accomplishment, there is the activity
(sadhana) for self-initiation:
Take both, dispel obstructions and visualize the protection circle.
Offer mandalas and make supplications:)
In the mandala of the vajra essence,
For the sake of ripening my three doors into vajras Please bestow upon
me, a worthy person,
The life empowerment to transcend birth and death!
(Let the wisdom beings descend and remain firmly.
By being inseparable from the guru visualized in front,
Imagine that he is performing the acts of empowerments.
First raise the vase to the crown of your head:)

In the mandala of the vase beyond concepts
Resides the unified protector of immortality.
Conferring empowerments upon you, the worthy one,
May you attain the unchanging vajra life.

JAH KALASHA KAYA ABIKENCHA OM
(Place the skull cup with nectar at your throat [and say]:)

In the kapala of indivisible space and awareness,
Flows the consorts nectar of great bliss.
By giving it to you, the worthy one,
May the pranas dissolve into the central channel
MAHA SUKHA VAKA ABIKENCHA AH
(Place the life-pills at your heart center:)

This nectar consisting of the essences of samsara and nirvana
Is the great bliss, the unity of appearance and emptiness.
By giving it to you, the worthy one,
May the fixation of birth and death be self-liberated!
GYANA VAJRA CHITTA ABIKENCHA HUNG
(Give symbolic indication with the crystal and mirror:)

Within the ground wisdom of primordial purity
Manifests the path appearances of spontaneous presence.
In the state of great unity beyond concepts,
May you obtain the empowerment of changelessness.

(Uttering this, rest in the state beyond description.
Afterwards, seal will bringing back the life-energy.
Pledge the samaya and offer mandalas.
Everyone who exerts himself in this profound path
Will in this life time attain the vidyadhara level of immortality.
They will be blessed by the dakas and dakinis
And perceived objects will manifest as the display of the three kayas.

THE VAJRA VERSES OF ORAL
INSTRUCTIONS
ACCORDING TO THE HEART ESSENCE OF THE GREAT SIDDHA
Paying homage to Shakyamuni, Vajradhara and Samantabhadra,
The wisdom dakinis and the guru,
I shall here bestow the essence of oral instructions,
The hearing lineage of view, meditation, action and fruition.
Samaya.
Faithful people wishing to attain enlightenment,
Follow a sacred master correctly,
Be ripened and with pure samayas
practice the preliminaries, the main part and conclusion.
Samaya.
First go to a secluded place.
Give up all outer and inner activities.
Rest your body, speech and mind in naturalness.
Supplicate one-pointedly and engage in the points (of practice).
Encourage forcefully your mind to Dharma practice.
In order to enter the path to the sublime and the excellent
Accept and reject what concerns the law of karma and develop renunciation.
Those were the general preliminaries.
Take refuge and pledge the twofold bodhicitta.
Purify misdeeds and offenses and increase the two accumulations.
Practice the yoga of devotion as the quintessence. Those were the special
preliminaries.
Visualize in your body the hollow sphere of nadis and pranas.
make the outer and inner separation of samsara and nirvana.
Refine your three doors and dispel drowsiness and agitation.
Those were the specific preliminaries.
Regard the way-it-is to be emptiness.
And the way-it-appears to be mark less coincidences.
Recognize their unity to be wish less ness.
This view is the Great Middle.
Relax in the state of threefold naturalness.
Sustain the experience of spontaneously freeing the four
defects.
Gain the confidence of the self-manifest four kayas. This meditation
is the Great Seal.
Resolve that appearance and mind are illusory, awareness and emptiness.
Train in development and recitation, prana and bindu.
Decide on the four signs and engage in yogic discipline.
This action is the Great Equal Taste.
The blissful warmth of tummo manifests as an illusion.
Train in the experience of luminosity and in dream.
Attain liberation in the bardo of dying, without cultivation.
This enhancement is the Great Path of Means.
Focusing on the key points of gate, field, wind and mind,
The wisdoms of the four visions increase.
Manifest signs and progress are devoid of loss and gain.
This fruition is the Great Perfection.
At the end of the session, seal with dedication and aspiration.
In the breaks, increase the experience of the main part.
Carry your practice to perfection and accomplish the two-fold benefit.
Those were the concluding steps of instruction. Samaya.
The one who simply writes this down in gold,
Who reads it loud and wears it around his neck,
Will attain liberation in seven life times.
so needless to mention if you practice it correctly.
This quintessential extract endowed with five transmissions
I entrust with a seal to my emanated son.
This is the profound sutras, tantras and oral instructions,
The path for worthy people to be liberated in one 1ife-time.
By instructing this to people with residual karmic link,
May all beings attain the eminence of the three kayas.
