Sakura then is rivaled in capturing the cards by Li who came from Hong Kong (A descendent of the creator of the cards, Clow Reed, who is the most powerful magician back then) He is joined in his quest to capture the card (using his sword, martial arts expertise and magic power) later on by Meiling, his cousin, who made Li promises to make her his fiancé until he found someone he loves more than her. Li and Sakura competed to catch Yukito’s (which means snow-rabbit) attention too as both are very fond of him. At first they competed to capture the cards but later, after becoming friends, they work together to catch the cards. Whoever successfully returned a card to its original form and beat the card, gets it. (But only Sakura could turn them into a card because she holds the key) .

Now, there is two parts of the first part. The first part ends after episode 35 and breaks into the first movie where Sakura had an adventure in Hong Kong.

The second first part (or season 2 -some like to call it-) starts with Sakura having a dream where two figure standing before her at the Tokyo Tower and Clow Card falling around them. (Kero said that Sakura’s dreams are premonition dreams, which one day will become true) One of them she identified as Miss Mizuki, her newly arrived substitute teacher. Miss Mizuki, Sakura later found out, had magic power and resides in the temple. Sakura likes Miss Mizuki very much and refused to believe that she is bad. Li however, is always alert whenever Miss Mizuki is around because he could sense her strong power.

After the last card is captured, Kero has the ability to transfer into his original beast self. (The last card is The Earth and Kero needed The Earth and The Fire because his powers are based on the Sun, get it?) Sakura found out that there is a second guardian of the book (at the back cover) and also The Judge who is supposed to be someone close to her. After sealing The Earth, Sakura are shocked to find out that the second guardian, Yue (which holds the power of the moon) is

in fact Yukito (her brother’s best friend who she had a crush on). Yukito is Yue’s false form and have his own personality thus Yukito doesn’t remember or know he is Yue (which means moon). Because Li is also a cardcaptor, he is judged first. In order to win, he must defeat Yue using all his captured cards. Li uses The Time and loses because The Time is under the moon’s power. Then came Sakura. If she loses, she will forget everything about Clow Cards and live in a world where everyone will forget love. They battled at the Tokyo Tower, just like how Sakura dreamt about. Sakura is reluctant to attack Yue because she is afraid of harming Yukito. So, she uses The Wood to try to bind Yue with the vines and not harming him. Sadly, it’s a bad choice because The Wood is also under moons influence. She loses and Yue transported her into a world without love..she is soo sad in that world that she cried trying to find something that’s missing. Then she heard a bell ring. It’s Miss Mizuki’s Clow bell. It awakened her and basically, the bell gave her a second chance (because Clow is soo powerful, he could see the future and made the bell especially to give Sakura a second chance). This time, Sakura is angry because she doesn’t want to live in a world without love. With her magic heightened, she transformed the key staff into something new and uses The Windy to bind Yue. Although, The Windy is under moon’s influence, she is much stronger because it’s under the influence of Sakura’s magic (which is based on the stars). Defeated, Yue claimed Sakura the mistress of the cards and the guardians. (By the way, Sakura self mantra is “It will be okay for sure”) And so ends the first part.
