In this course you will be exposed to sets of numbers and their field properties; open sentences and inequalities in one and two variables; systems of two linear equations; polynomials, factors and rational expressions;  and quadratic functions.

The students will utilize arithmetic operations in this algebraic environment.  The students will sharpen their skills in simplifying expressions and acquire techniques in solving first and second degree equations in both one and two variables.  The student will also develop the skills in translating the information in a word problem into an algebraic relationship and apply their knowledge in solving such problems.

The calculator is a good tool to help you through many of your assignments.  This tool may not be allowed on certain tests or quizzes.  You will be notified when you can't use one.  Graphing calculators will not be allowed in this course.  The responsibility of bringing your own book, calculator, pencil and notebook to class is an important first step to your success in this course.
