Longest glacial trek over Hispar Pass
Biafo Snow Lake Hisper Trek
Grade: Strenuous
The combination of Biafo Glacier and Hispar Glacier make this trek the longest glacier trek (over 120 Kms. on glacier) outside Polar Regions. There are numerous opportunities of climbing peaks above and below 6000 meters on the route. We start our trek at Askoli and turn left on Biafo Glacier to walk upto 77 Sq. Kms wide Snow Lake. From here one can cross to Khurdupin Pass to Shimshal in the north. After a day or two exploring Snow Lake, one can return to Skardu by the same route. After a day at 1.5 Km. thick Snow Lake, we will turn west and cross Hispar Pass (5151 m) and trek down on Hispar Glacier to Hispar village in Nager and drive to Karimabad by jeep.
Itinerary:
Day-1 Arrival at Rawalpindi.
Day-2 Fly to Skardu.
Day-3 Explore Skardu.
Day-4 Jeep to Askoli.
Day-5-11 Trek on Biafo Glacier to Snow Lake.
Day-12 Day at leisure.
Day-13-18 Cross Hispar Pass and trek down to Hispar Village.
Day-19 Walk to Huro and jeep to Karimabad.
Day-20 Sightseeing.
Day-21 Khunjerab Pass and back to Gulmit.
Day-22 Drive to Gilgit.
Day-23 Fly or drive to Rawalpindi.
Day-24 Fly home.
