Born in the year 1899 in Kottar, Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, India, as the first
child of Moulavi Muhammad Muhiy al-Din Alim Sahib and Madam Beevi
Fatimah, Moulavi Muhammad Hasbullah Sahib was a renowned scholar of Islam
in South India. He married his cousin Madam Aishah Thaminah who bore
for him five children: Beevi Fatimah (1), Babu Sahib (2), Halimah Ramzan
(3), Fatimah Haseebah (4) and Saleem Allamah (5). His wife passed
away due to prolong illness after the birth of his second son. Thereafter
he married a divorcee Madam Mohideen Malik Beevi (in the picture) who had
a son from her previous marriage, Abdullah Jalaludeen.
She bore for him two daughters: Aishah Kamilah (6) and Hafsah Naseebah (7).
He passed away in the year 1984 (21st Jamadil Awwal) at the age of 85 in
India.
Moulavi Sahib was an erudite scholar and a master logician. Despite
his ability to earn, he chose a path of austerity and asceticism.
A very popluar and famous figure in the scholarly circle. He was
a point of reference and a towering strength for South Indian 'Ulama.
Even though he did not devote much of his time to writings he had a large
pool of students from Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
