Sai Suurya Gaayathree relates to the body level in cosmic form --Suurya is the Sun God. It is related to cconsciousness in the outer world. The best time to chant this Gaayathree is 10AM to 4PM. Sai Hiranyagarbha Gaayathree enables us to link with the divine
cosmic Mind, Hiranyagarbha (Golden-wombed Divinity). It is related to the
subconscious-psychosomatic conscience. The best time to chant this Gaayathree
is 4PM to 10PM.
The Sai Eeshvaraya Gaayathree was revealed by Swami to Ghandikota Subrahmanya Shaastri. The Sai Suurya Gaayathree and the Sai Hiranyagarbha Gaayathree was revealed by Swami to Ghandikota V. It is said that in this day and age, the age of the Kali Yuga, the chanting of the Divine Name of God is one the safest and surest ways of earning God's grace for Enlightenment and Liberation. NAMASMARANA (the chanting and remembrance of the Lord's name) usually involves the chanting and recital of a MANTRA. A Mantra could be described as a 'special formula' of words and phrases used to describe, revere and evoke the Deity or God, a person has chosen to worship. In any type of Mantra related to spirituality,
there are two energy patterns at play:
If the Mantra is recited WITHOUT an 'idea' or 'understanding' of what is being chanted, the 'effects' of the Mantra are limited or of NO value at all! Quote: "Just the repetition of a Mantra is of no value. But if a Mantra is chanted with full knowledge of it's significance, it has great effect." - Sathya Sai Baba. The repetition of the Mantra first happens in the mind connected solely with the brain and intellect. This is purely a 'mechanical' process! But later, if an appreciation of the 'form' and 'significance' of the Deity or God being worshipped develops, an 'impression' is formed in the 'heart' of the person chanting the Mantra. That is, you start to 'FALL IN LOVE' with both the Mantra and the Deity and God you are worshipping. Quote: "The Name of the Lord must be recited with awe and wonder, humility and reverence. The bow has to be drawn full before the arrow is released; then it will pierce the target. FEELING is the force that draws the string taut and makes the NAME reach the NAMI (the bearer of the name)." - Sathya Sai Baba. Two of the most important Mantras know to devotees of Sri Sathya Sai Baba are perhaps the ancient GAYATHRI MANTRA (also known as the Surya Gayathri) and the SATHYA SAI GAYATHRI or simply THE SAI GAYATHRI. Sathya Sai has spoken very highly of the Ancient Gayathri Mantra. This mantra could be described as a Mantra glorifying the 'universal' aspect of God (the formless). Although the 'formless' aspect of God is worshipped, the 'form' of this Mantra is represented as 'LIGHT'' and the Deities associated with this Mantra are those of the FEMALE DEVIS....SARASWATHI, SAVITHRI and GAYATHRI. The SATHYA SAI GAYATHRI on the other hand, 'revealed' through the prompting of Sathya Sai by a great Vedic Pundit in 1977, is a little more mysterious...? Unlike the Gayathri Mantra, Sathya Sai has never made any public references (to my knowledge) about the SAI GAYATHRI in any of HIS discourses. This Mantra read AUM SAAYEESHVARAAYA VIDHMAHE
The meaning of this mantra is as follows:
Intense LOVE for God can be 'experienced' and 'expressed' to a 'form' of God or to the 'formless' aspect of God. However, to love God 'through' a form is considered EASIER and NECESSARY. Quote: "The Gita declares that it is impossible to realize the formless and attributeless Divine Principle except by going 'through' the stage of worshiping God with form and attributes." - Sathya Sai Baba. Quote: "Through the impermanent form you become aware of the permanent formless." -Sathya Sai Baba. Sathya Sai has also said .."The mind should be steady on the ONE chosen image of the ONE GOD." Sai also directs His devotees to:
But perhaps the most important aspect when chanting a Mantra is that one needs to 'FALL IN LOVE' with BOTH the FORM and the NAME of the God or Deity one is worshiping. It is the INTENSITY of LOVE that is being expressed toward the God of the Mantra that brings out the full 'glory' and 'grace' of the Mantra and allows the 'form' of the Mantra to enter one's consciousness and heart. Quote: 'If you do not repeat the name of God
in your heart, you can NOT experience bliss." - Sathya Sai Baba.
Dear Sai brothers and sisters, I encourage ALL Sai devotees to take up the chanting of the SATHYA SAI GAYATHRI in harmony with any other Divine Mantras one is already reciting....for it represents a worship and devotion to OUR GOD SRI SATHYA SAI BABA who we have chosen to make OURS in this birth. With LOVE to ALL at the LOTUS FEET,
thanks to Bro. Sash for sharing this article with us all. |
