You Can Only Use These Jobs When You Hit Level 30 and Do The Quest For Them
Paladin (Extra Job)

The Paladin is an Extra Job, a job that must be quested for upon reaching level 30 before it becomes available to your character. As such, you will have a good working knowledge of the FF XI world by the time you are ready to attempt the Paladin Quest (see below for information on the Paladin Quest).

Switching to the Paladin job for the first time (just like switching to any other job for the first time) means that you start at level 1 in the job.


The Paladin

Paladins are holy knights who have pledged their lives to banishing undead from the land of Vana`diel. In doing so, Paladins learn many divine abilities, giving them additional powers against undead opponents.

Divine magic alone will does not defeat their enemies, so Paladins also spend considerable time mastering sword and shield combat. Their high defense and defensive abilities make them the best defensive (tank) class in the game. Because of this, Paladins are often found in the front lines of battles protecting their fellow party members.

Paladins have a good variety of magic spells which heal and protect their allies. However, they are not primary healers because of their low MP ( Mana Points).

Paladin Quest (Enable Paladin Job)
Location: South San d�Oria
Key NPC: Balasiel (F7)
Procedure:

You need to complete three separate quests from Balasiel:


� You need to give him a "root of tree" item. These can be found on ghost or hound type monsters.
� Go to G7 of Orbul Cave (from La Theine highlands),
� Touch the ??? at the pool, then quickly touch the ??? some sand place near the pool to get an item.
� Give the item to Balasiel
� [Prerequisite: Level 30] Talk to Balasiel (F7)
� Talk to the guards on 2nd floor of the guard post of each west (J9 Cahaurme) and east (H9 Baurise) entrance.
� Go to Davoi (E10), examine the Disused Well and get an item.
� Return to San d�Oria and talk to Balasiel (F7).
� Quest finished - you can now become a Paladin at your Mog House! (You also get a kite shield)
Dark Knight
Dark Knight (Extra Job)

The Dark Knight is an Extra Job, a job that must be quested for upon reaching level 30 before it becomes available to your character. As such, you will have a good working knowledge of the FF XI world by the time you are ready to attempt the Dark Knight Quest (see below for information on the Dark Knight Quest).

Switching to the Dark Knight job for the first time (just like switching to any other job for the first time) means that you start at level 1 in the job.


The Dark Knight

A Dark Knight's purpose in life is the destruction of those whom they see as their enemies. They will employ all available methods to accomplish this, even to the point of employing dark magic to leech the health from their opponents to restore their own.

Dark Knights have strong magic defense. Dark Knight spells are not designed to help their party - instead, their destructive magics are employed to make the fight end quicker (Dark Knights are not known for having large amounts of MP).

Dark Knights forsake shields to employ large weapons of destruction such as great swords and scythes. With these large weapons and their offensive magical powers, dealing death is definitely the strong point of a dark knight.

Dark Knight Quest (Enable Dark Knight Job)
Location: Bastok Mines Area
Key NPC: Gumbah (J7, 2nd floor)
Procedure:

� Talk to Gumbah (Bastok Mines, J7)
� Go to the 3rd floor of Palbrough Mines (G8), get aboard the ship and receive a two handed sword.
� Equip the sword and kill 100+ enemies
� Go to Beadeaux (South east exit of swamp) and an event movie will start
� Quest finished - you can now become a Dark Knight at your Mog House!
