Ed Kuepper and Chris Bailey put aside
their 20-year old and very public feud (but not their wry sense of humour) when
ARIA asked them to play together as they were inducted into the ARIA Hall Of
Fame.
This took place at the pre-ARIAs event at City Live,
Sydney. In his induction speech, journalist and TV presenter Clinton Walker
recalled that Bob Geldof once said, "Rock music of the seventies was changed by
three bands - the Sex Pistols, The Ramones and The Saints."
Bailey, Kuepper and drummer Ivor Hay (in very unpunk
bright blue business shirt) powered through a four minute "Stranded" (which was
released in 1976 before the Sex Pistols) before 100 people.
Bailey then pointed to the ARIA trophy and said that
this "butt plug" would increase the band's sex lives. Hay was even less
impressed, sniffing it was "hypocritical" they should be lauded by the music
industry after 25 years when they would not have imploded if they been given
support then. |
