What are those unclean spirits that dwell within us? What are those hemorrhages that afflict us for years? Do we live our lives spiritually dead? Let us call on Christ to cleanse us of those unclean spirits and to heal us of our hemorrhages. Sin must not reign in our lives, but Christ who through his act of infinite love for us, died for us, and rose from the dead so that sin would no longer reign. We know that through the Resurrection of Christ he was victorious over sin, death, and Satan. Let us call upon the Risen Christ to strenghten us and increase our faith that we may go and tell others what Christ has done for us. The fight of the flesh and spirit is not easy, but as you turn away from sin and draw closer to God keep your focus on Jesus Christ. We need to persevere to the end. We who have been baptized have recieved the Holy Spirit. Ask God to stir up the Holy Spirit so as to live according his will not our own. Let us be witnesses of the Risen Lord and disciples of His Church. As we renewed our baptismal promises this past weekend let us be that light to a world which is in confusion and darkness.

Mark 6 reminds me that sometimes I receive gifts that I do not acknowledge. I like the apostles harden my heart. Then He reels me back in by letting me know that in adversity, He walks right their with me. The apostles had Him in their midst and still doubted even when they were the first hand witnesses.

Mark 6
In verse 31 Jesus tells the apostles to come away to a deserted place. I need to go to those deserted places in my life not only to rest, but to pray in my (soul)inner room, close the door, and to pray to the Father in secret(Matt 6:6). In my life I get caught up with the many things I need to do daily. I need to make that time to get away from the world to refresh the body and soul. Jesus went to pray by himself and Paul tells us to pray always. Prayer is very important in the life of a Christian. Our prayers don't need to be lenghty or complicated. Just something as simple as "Thank You God for helping me this day ay work" is a very short prayer. We are very blessed in every moment of our lives by God's presence. Let us always be grateful for those blessings bestowed upon us. Let us also pray the Holy Scriptures. Here is little spiritual exercise I was taught recently in a Bible study. Try it! Read John 3:16-19 and insert your name for the word world. Pray the Holy Scriptures!
