Aim: How do we create a time-line from newspaper articles as a source of easy reference?

 

STANDARDS ADRESSED: Reading (E1), Writing (E1), Conventional Usage of English Grammar (E4), Public Documents

 

Students will be able to understand the concept of a time-line.

Students will be able to relate historical events to the present.

Students will be able to think critically.

Students will be able critically appreciate historical data.

Students will be able to better appreciate the use if some words and of tenses.

 

NOTE: A time line will be created and relevant questions will also be asked about the passage.

2.      Where is Little Rock?

3.      In what year was she born?

4.      Did she work alone? If not, with whom did she work?

5.      What was regarded as a victory that resulted from her work?

6.      From your previous classes, can you recall the meaning of NAACP?

7.      In 1954, a major historical event took place in American History. What was that?

8.      What is the meaning of the following words:

Segregation, constitution, litigation, snarling, confrontation

12.  How long ago was the book written?

13.  Who was the President of the USA at the time?

Rewrite the sentence using another word for vacuum.
