Aim: HOW DO WE IMPROVE OUR COMPREHENSIVE SKILLS? (INDEPENDENT READING, BOOK TALK, GRAPHIC INTERPRETATION, TEXT TO SELF, READ ALOUD)
SWBAT: CONTINUE TO IMPROVE WRITTEN VERBAL AND READING SKILLS,
(ONGOING LESSONS IN KEEPING WITH NCEE STANDARDS)
STANDARDS TO BE PURSUED, TO ACHIEVE READING, (E1) WRITING, (E2)
CONVENTIONAL USAGE OF ENGLISH GRAMMAR, (E4) ORAL COMMUNICATIONS (E3)
Students will enter classroom and observe mini lesson “on Entering
the Classroom” – already done.
Students will go to classroom library and choose books. They will
proceed to workstations and begin Independent Reading
Students will complete Annotated Bibliographies. Annotated
Bibliographies will be completed today (even if books are not completed.)
BOOK TALK.
Three students from three different workstations will give Book
Talks. This will be followed by a question and answer period.

IMPROVING COMPREHENSION THROUGH INFORMATIONAL TEXT
Assignment:
Basketball fans are excited about “March Madness” from the newspaper provided, students will choose the story relating to March Madness. They will then summarize the article in at least 2 paragraphs and then write their opinion on the article.
