SOLIDARITY SUNDAY BROWN BAG COLLECTION

This Lent, as part of our almsgiving, we were all encouraged to fill a brown paper bag (supplied in the Grrapevine!) with groceries for St. Vincent de Paul. On Sunday, March 25, we were all encouraged to bring our bags forward during the collection and place them in the sanctuary.

Well... quite the success!!! We collected over 160 bags for St. Vincent de Paul. On Monday, March 26, with the able assistance of the Grade 7 class, we loaded two pick-up trucks full of the bags. It only took the Grade 7 class 4 minutes to carry all of the bags from the Church to the trucks. Way to go Grade 7!!!

Down at St. Vincent de Paul, there were many willing hands to help us unload... We'll do it again in the Fall.

It was very heartening, before Mass began, to hear the loud rustling of a multitude of paper bags.

Most pews had at least two bags nestled next to their donors.

Old and young came forward in procession, sometimes to fast to catch with the camera.

GRADE 7 CLASS LOADS THE TRUCKS

Able-bodied Grade 7 students helped us load two pick-up trucks full of grocery bags. The trucks were sure sagging at the rear!

We had to drive very slowly and cautiously to St. Vincent de Paul, careful not to loose and bags of noodles!

Unloading took a little longer, but we had many able and willing hands to help us unload the two trucks.
