On Saturday, the Saints scored once in the first and twice in the third and then held on to defeat the Ice on a windy day at Schneider Field. Chad Schwegel pitched a complete game for the Saints, striking out eight batters and scattering eight hits and two walks to pick up his second win of the season. On offense, the Saints managed 11 hits in the game, led by Brent Schloe, who finished 3-for-4 with the team's first home run of the season, an RBI, and two runs scored. Luke Schumer and Andy Schneider both went 2-for-4 with an RBI to aid in the win as well.
The Saints scored their first run in the bottom of the first inning when Schloe homered to right to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. In the third, the Saints struck for two more runs after four straight hits all with two outs. Ryan Stark, Schloe, Schumer, and Schneider all singled, with Schumer's driving in Stark and Schneider's driving in Schloe. The Ice scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings, but neither team scored after that.
