On Sunday, the Saints' bats finally came to life as they pounded out 12 hits in the game and came from behind twice to take the lead. Dan Scholand led the offense, going 4-for-6 with a home run, double, run, and an RBI. Craig Hern went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI and Andy Schneider had a double, run, and two RBIs. Josh Vorpahl, a draftee from Roster's, picked up the win on the mound in relief of Ryan Schneider, another draftee from Roster's. He pitched seven innings, allowing no runs on four hits, one walk, and he struck out 11.
The Saints fell behind early again after a two-run home run in the bottom of the first gave the Lakers a 2-0 lead. However, the Saints tied the game in the top of the second with two runs of their own. Andy Schneider reached on an error, Steve Newman singled, Luke Schumer reached on a fielder's choice to force Newman and advance Schneider to third, Charlie Carr walked to load the bases, and Ryan Schneider singled home Andy Schneider and Schumer. The Saints took the lead in the third when Hern and Andy Schneider hit back-to-back doubles with two outs to put the Saints up 3-2. The Lakers came right back with four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 6-3 lead, but the Saints responded with four in the top of the fifth to reclaim the lead. Scholand led off with a home run to left, his second of the season; Ryan Stark walked, Brent Schloe singled, and Hern singled home Stark with Schloe and Hern advancing on the throw. A sacrifice fly by Andy Schneider scored Schloe and moved Hern to third and Hern scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Newman to give the Saints a 7-6 lead. The Saints added an insurance run in the top of the seventh with some small ball as Andy Schneider led off with a walk, Newman bunted pinch runner Bryan Rocheleau to second, and Schumer delivered a single up the middle to score Rocheleau and end the scoring at 8-6.
