The Saints fell behind 9-0 to Upsala after just two innings as a result of eight hits, two walks, four hit batters, and three errors. Nevertheless, the Saints chipped their way back into the game by scoring three in the third, one in the fourth, and five in fifth to tie the game at 9-9. In the third, Nick Percuoco singled and scored on Dan Scholand's triple to right center to get the Saints on the board. Casey Haugen then singled home Scholand, stole second, advanced to third on Luke Schumer's single, and scored on an error. In the fourth, Eric Schreifels reached on a fielder's choice, moved to second on a single by Percuoco, and scored on a single by Haugen. In the fifth inning, Steve Newman and Aaron Rocheleau walked and a passed ball put them both in scoring position. Schreifels then delivered a 2-run single to score both Newman and Rocheleau; Percuoco walked; Scholand doubled to score Schreifels; and Haugen singled to score both Percuoco and Scholand to tie the game. The Saints grabbed their first lead of the game in the top of the sixth with four more runs. With two outs, Schreifels walked, Percuoco singled, and Scholand singled home Schreifels. Haugen walked to load the bases and Schumer followed with a 2-run single that scored Percuoco and Scholand. Brent Schloe followed that up with an RBI-single to score Haugen and make the score 13-9. In the eighth, the Saints scored one last time when Schumer hit a sacrifice fly that scored Scholand, who had earlier walked and moved to second and then third on wild pitches. Haugen led the team's 16 hit attack on the day, going 4-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs. Scholand finished 3-for-5 with a double, triple, four runs scored, and three RBIs; Percuoco was 3-for-4 with three runs scored; Schumer was 2-for-5 with three RBIs; Rocheleau was 2-for-5 with a run scored; and Schreifels scored three runs and had two RBIs. Rocheleau also picked up the win on the mound in his first pitching action of the season. In his four innings of work, he allowed no runs on four hits and struck out eight.
