Game Summary

On Friday, the Saints produced their best offensive performance of the season by pounding out 23 hits and scoring 22 runs against Saint Wendel in a game that was eventually called after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.  Brent Schloe led the team offensively, going 5-for-6 with three doubles, four runs scored, and six RBIs.  Luke Schumer finished 4-for-6 with a double, triple, three runs scored, and 4 RBIs; Aaron Rocheleau went 4-for-5 with a triple, five runs scored, and an RBI;  Ryan Stark was 2-for-5 with a double, four runs, and two RBIs; Jason Wald was 3-for-3 with an RBI; Steve Newman was 2-for-6 with two RBIs; and Jason Ellingson finished 2-for-6 with a double and two runs scored.  Ellingson also picked up the win on the mound with six shutout innings.  He scattered four hits, two walks, and struck out three.

The Saints scored right away in the first inning when Newman singled home Stark, who had reached on a fielder's choice and advanced on an error, to make the score 1-0 after an inning.  In the second, Ellingson singled, Eli Stenman singled, and Rocheleau reached on a fielder's choice that resulted in an error, which scored Ellingson and moved Stenman to third.  Stenman later scored on a wild pitch and after a groundout put Rocheleau on third, Schloe singled to score Rocheleau and put the Saints up 4-0.  The Saints struck for three more in the fourth after Rocheleau tripled, Schloe doubled to score Rocheleau, Schumer tripled to score Schloe, and Schumer scored on an error.  In the fifth, Rocheleau singled and went to third after two wild pitches, Stark walked, Schloe singled to score Rocheleau, Schumer singled to score Stark, and Schloe later scored on an error with the bases loaded to make the score 10-0.  The Saints then poured it on in the sixth inning with their highest scoring inning of the season, when they scored 12 runs on 11 hits while batting twice through their lineup.  Stenman walked to start the inning, Rocheleau singled, Stark doubled to score Stenman, Schloe doubled to score Rocheleau and Stark, Schumer singled, Newman singled to score Schloe, Wald was hit by a pitch, Tom Kemper reached on a fielder's choice to score Schumer, Ellingson doubled to score Newman, Rocheleau singled to score Kemper, Stark singled to score Ellingson, Schloe doubled to score Rocheleau, Schumer doubled to score Stark and Schloe, and Wald singled to score Schumer and make the score 22-0.
