The Saint Joseph Saints lost 9-4 in an exhibition game against the Sauk Rapids Cyclones at Bob Cross Field in Sauk Rapids on Saturday afternoon. The Saints had just seven hits, led by Ryan Stark, who finished 2-for-4. Andy Schneider had a double and a run scored and Blake Cheeley had an RBI single. Aaron Rocheleau took the loss on the mound in seven innings of work.
Sauk Rapids took an early lead in the first by scoring two runs on a home run and did the same in the third inning to jump ahead 4-0. However, the Saints came back in the fifth with four runs of their own to tie the game. Schneider doubled, Newman singled, Rocheleau hit a sacrifice fly to score Schneider, Newman stole second and scored on Cheeley's single, Casey Haugen singled, and Dan Scholand reached on an error, allowing both Cheeley and Haugen to score. Unfortunately for the Saints, Sauk Rapids scored two more times in the bottom of the fifth to retake the lead and added three in the seventh to win 9-4.
