Game Summary

The Saints' bats came to life as they pounded out 11 hits in beating Shakopee.  Steve Newman and Luke Schumer each had three hits and Brent Schloe and Andy Schneider both had two hits to lead the attack.  Newman also finished with  three RBIs and Schneider scored two runs.  Jason Ellingson pitched six strong innings to get the win on the mound as he allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits, four walks, and three strikeouts.  Schumer pitched the last three innings for his first save of the season.

The Saints struck first in the top of the second inning when Schumer singled, went to second on a balk, advanced to third on Schneider's single, and scored on Newman's sacrifice fly to right.  Kemper then walked and Eli Stenman reached on an error to load the bases.  Aaron Rocheleau and Charlie Carr both walked to bring in Schneider and Kemper to put the Saints up 3-0.  The Saints added another run in the third after Schneider reached on an error and scored on Newman's double to center.  The Indians came back with three runs in the bottom of the third to cut the lead to 4-3, but the Saints responded with two more runs in the fifth.  Schloe doubled and went to third on Schumer's single and a walk to Jason Wald loaded the bases.  After a lineout double play, Newman singled to score Schloe and Kemper singled to score Wald and finish the scoring for the game at 6-3.
