Game Summary

The Saints jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning against Freeport.  Casey Haugen walked and went to third on Charlie Carr's double.  Luke Schumer grounded out to score Haugen and move Carr to third, and Brent Schloe followed with a base hit to score Carr.  Freeport tied the game in the third at 2-2 and took the lead with an unearned run in the sixth.  The Saints tied the game in the seventh when Carr doubled and scored on Schloe's single with two outs.  However, the Sox took the lead for good in the top of the ninth with three runs on four hits and an error.  The Saints loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth, but two nice defensive plays by the Sox defense preserved the lead and the win.  Offensively, the Saints pounded out 13 hits in the game, but left 13 runners on base.  Ryan Stark led the way, going 4-for-5.  Schloe and Jason Wald each went 3-for-5 and Schloe had two RBIs.  Carr finished 2-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored.  Blake Cheeley took the loss on the mound, allowing six runs (four earned) on 11 hits, five walks, and eight strikeouts.
