Fate

O Fate, how filled with treachery and evil are your ways,
That you must fill my life with hardships and delays?
As you help me you kill me,
You can not let me be,
And because of you so tormented are my days!

It seems your pleasure is my unrest,
As you seek to make my past love a guest
In my daily life,
So my misfortune does stab me as a knife
Every time I see her face, so blessed.

Oh, but thats not enough!
Fate seeks to be cruel and rough.
And so you cast her in this play,
That I must love her everyday,
And so you tempt my heart to call my bluff.

So misery takes my life astray,
Until I love her, to my last day.
And my own life youll tempt me to take,
So from this nightmare I may wake
Only to find she follows me for my eternal stay.

And so well live in houses side by side,
Shell be the constant reminder that crushes my pride.
Shell be the one I never had,
Betrothed to some other lad
To whom she made a happy bride.

So every second upon her I must look,
Her beauty catching me like a hook,
Shell lure me in with her glorious face,
Burning me when I get too close to her grace,
And so Fate seals shut the black and vile book.
