Campfire

Center of fire, ring of friends,
A power to inspire a love which never ends.
Singing songs, shouting praise,
Confessing wrongs and changing ways.
And God hears us, and he rejoices,
We know He loves us, and he hears this in our voices.

In the night an owl calls out,
Startling the friends throughout.
And the crooked branches of the trees
Sway back and forth in the breeze,
Casting shadows in the dark night.
But the fire will keep them from our sight.

And at this place, at this time,
Faces are solemn, and so sublime,
Because tomorrow well be gone,
With only our memories to dwell upon.
We look toward the dark starry skies,
And the tears well up in our eyes,
Because tomorrow well say our goodbyes.
