I thank God for a small group of women who gathered every week on an army base in Maryland for intercessory prayer. They taught me to pray and to be comfortable in prayer. They taught me to love prayer. Even though that was twenty years ago, I can still see their faces and remember their names. Perhaps you belong to a group like that, or are feeling the prompting of the Spirit to start one. I would like to offer some ways that I've found to keep group prayer times fresh.
Many of the prayer forms suggested for use by individuals can also be used in a group setting.
Pray the Scriptures
Use one of the prayers of the Saints as an opening meditation or to begin the prayer time.
Use sentence prayers.
Keep a written log of prayer requests and answers.
Have prayer partners.
Develop a prayer chain.
