Game of Love-Part 4

"Snow White...the forest scene..." Darien repeated
a little shakily.
Serena's mouth slowly dropped open as she digested
the information.'The forest scene?' she thought in alarm.
'Wait a second....doesn't that scene involve a--'
"Kiss?!" she screeched aloud, jumping a few steps
backwards, away from Darien.
"I'm not kissing him!" she squealed breathlessly, pointing
a finger at his mutually shocked face.
Darien's ego reeled at her comment. He knitted his
brows in anger as he retorted,
"And what's wrong with kissing me? I'm not so sure I
want to kiss you!"
Serena narrowed her eyes to slender slits, crossing
her arms in front of her with a huff. 'Who does he think
he is?' she thought angrily.
"Well, " the announcer started to say, "I think that's
perfectly allright."
Both Serena and Darien turned to face him, an equal
look of confusion open on their gaping faces. The
announcer noticed their puzzled expressions and
decided to clarify.
"You two can do an alternate game...right judges?" he
asked, spinning around to face the panel of three men.
They all gave him the thumbs up and winked. Darien
raised an eyebrow in suspicion at this, watching the
announcer as he spun around again, a wicked smile
plastered across his chubby face.
"Just say the word, "he started, barely able to stop
his smile from widening further. "and you'll do the
alternate."
Darien, suspecting the worst from the pack of weird
judges, opened his mouth to object, but again he
was interupted.
"Yes! Yes! Anything as long as I don't have to kiss
*him*!" Serena exclaimed.
"Ok then! here it is!" the announcer yelled cheerfully.
Darien sighed in frustarion while slapping an exhausted
hand to his head, slouching against a tree.
"Innnnnnstead of the Snow White scene...." the
announcer drawled. "You *lovely* kids are gonna......."
His smile quickly spread into a sadistic grin as he
trailed off. He knew that Darien and Serena had no
inkling of what was in store for them. To him, these
two didn't seem to like each other all that much....
' Well, they're sure gonna get to liking each other
now.....' the announcer thought sarcastically. He
glanced around, seeing hundreds of anxious spectators
watching him, awaiting the completion of his last
sentence. He cleared his throat in "all-knowing"-ness.
"You two-are-gonna Tan-gggooo!!!" he finally yelled,
throwing his head back to add effect.
Serena tried to scream but couldn't. The only
sound that escaped her mouth was a strained
squeal. Her blue eyes glazed over, lightning in
color till they were almost grey, as she struggled
to stand on her own wobbling legs. Darien's reaction
was almost the same. The tree he'd been leaning
against seemed as if it had stepped aside, just
enough for him to lose his support and fall backwards.
He caught his balance just in time to cry out in
disbelief.
"Tango!?" Just as the last syllable echoed
throughout the park, the Spanish Ambreda
(an: I think thats what its called :P) rang from
the loud speakers. The crowd erupted in whistles
and hoots as two of the judges arose from their
seats and pushed Serena and Darien onto the
stage, sandwiching them together with a final
shove. Serena muttered something rudely
under her breath before numbly reaching up
and interlacing her fingers with his. Darien
was baffled by the way Serena's hand felt
inside his own. Their bodies were so close,
but it felt as if their minds were melding as
well. Serena stared ahead in confusion,
careful not to make eye contact with Darien.
He slowly snaked his free arm around her
waist, and she did likewise. In Serena's
moment of fuzziness, a clear, concious
and real thought, made its way to her brain.
' Wait a second...I don't know how to Tango! '
she thought in alarm, her eyes widening. But
before anything could be done, Darien jerked
her forward, as they started the sensual
dance. ' How-how am I doing this?! ' Serena
thought frantically as Darien twisted her
around quickly for the walk back. ' I hate to
say it...' Darien mused while successfully
leading Serena in the dance. ' but contest
or no contest, I am *enjoying* this! ' As
they reached the end of the stage, Serena
became more comfortable and relaxed
dancing with Darien and began to sink into
the rythym. Suddenly, he spun her around,
her skirt rising up ever so slightly. He grabbed
her tightly in mid-spin and crushed her body
to his, saving a split second to gaze intensly
at her. Serena shot him a serious look, her
mouth set in a tight line, her blue eyes hard,
before sharply throwing her head backwards.
Darien complied by dipping her extremely low
to the ground, making sure to hold onto her
as securely, and almost possesively, as
possible. His heart was thumping loudly in
his throat, adrenaline running rampant through
his bloodstream. In time with the beat of the
music, Darien roughly gripped his hand to
Serena's lower thigh and pulled it around his
waist. Serena knew this was part of the dance
...she'd seen it on TV a billion times! But it
scared and thrilled her at the same time
when Darien grasped her leg so tightly....
so *possesively*...like she was his and *no*
one else's. She relaxed completely then and
let Darien perform the next step: dragging
her across the stage floor. He ceased his
backward dragging motion and thrust Serena
up to him, letting go of her thin leg at the
same moment. He crushed her body to his
briefly before jutting her away, one hand
holding hers as she twirled around gracefully.
When he pulled her back towards him, her
face stopped inches from his as the music
died. The crowd went wild and crazy, loving
the couple's chemistry. Serena and Darien
were both breathing heavily, their breaths in
exact sync, brushing over each other's faces.
Darien suddenly leaned down, slowly moving
forward to kiss her. An alarm went off in
Serena's brain, but the message was reaching
her sound mind too sluggishly. She had only
time to mutter the choice phrase, "No, I don't
want to kiss you..." before her vocal cords
choked, refusing to strain out the rest of her
sentence with Darien's lips a hair away from
her own. And even so, what she was trying
to say was an utter lie. She desperately
wanted Darien to kiss her. If something
interupted them...and it did. "Woah-o! We
have our winners!" the announcer yelled
and grabbed Serena's arm abruptly, ripping
her from her positon in Darien's arms. She
glanced around in confusion, a dazed look
in her eyes.

* * *

Serena barely remembered receiving the
prize money and exiting the park with
Darien after the tiring day. All of a sudden,
Darien felt a presense behind him and
instinctly turned around to see Andrew
winking at him from far away. He blinked
as he saw Andrew reaching into one of
his pockets and retrieving a small square
object. Darien squinted in the sun to
see what it was Andrew was holding.
Furrowing his brow, he began to read
the tiny print. "Troj--" he stopped abrubtly
and gave Andrew a look of death, silently
vowing to kick the shit out of him later.
Andrew's all-knowing smile faded away
as he tucked the object carefully back in
his pocket and ran away in the other
direction. Darien groaned and turned
back around, muttering to himself. He
saw Serena looking up at him innocently,
and quickly ceased all talk, just looking
at her. Their eyes spoke volumes to each
other. The petty arguments and insults;
they both knew it was only a facade to
hide their true feelings for each other: love.
"You know, your not a pretty bad dancer
once you try, Meatball Head." Darien said
tenderly as he reached up and ran his hands
in and out of Serena's bangs.
She blushed slightly and averted her eyes
down. He smiled as he awaited her answer,
wanting to hear her lovely voice which he had
grown to love just in the first few months
they'd known each other. She shrugged
shyly. Darien responded by laughing softly,
not stroking her hair any longer, but moving
his hand down to caress her smooth cheek.
"I'll see you tommorow, allright?" he asked
anxioiusly as she looked up at him finally.
Darien confidently bent down and placed a
kiss on her cheek, a fraction of an inch from
her lips. After what seemed like forever to
both of them, he slowly pulled away, curling
his lips into a gorgeous smile. Serena
flushed noticably as butterflies came to
her stomach, but she quickly gathered
herself together as she rememebered
something.
"B-But I thoughtyou were going to flavor
factory with Raye tommorow..." she
stammered. Without hesitation, Darien
looked into her eyes, enjoying her nervous
state. He arched his eyebrows upwards for
a second before letting go of her cheek and
reaching out to hold her chin between his
forefingers, gazing intently at her.
"Not anymore..." he said evenly, before
kissing her full on the lips. When he pulled
away, he flashed her one last smile, turned
around, thrust his hands into his pockets
and walked away.
