Pokemon Master by Shadow
Um, *Winces* this is going to be very different from Ace Sanchez’s version… because I didn’t like Lance dying and the blatant AAMRN. Hmm… oh, this’ll be championshippy…
Summary: This is 10 years into the dark future. The league controls nearly all, but here and there, small pockets of rebellion spark. When Misty captures one of the League’s main weapons and forces him to join the rebellion, something happens that she did not intend…
Disclaimer: No, I don’t own pokemon. It belongs to Nintendo, etc. However, the idea of the triple guardianship and the light/shadow/dark triangle is mine.
Prologue: Shadows
************************************************************************
Pallet Town was burning.
What was left of it; that is… flames crackled over broken and discarded wooden buildings, as the League fire trainers toasted the mostly abandoned buildings.
“This place is a mess.” One remarked. The leader. Her Magmar laughed and breathed out another stream of flame.
“What an easy assignment.” Another said, laughing, as his Tauros knocked down what had once been a supermarket. “Hmm. Think there’s anything worthwhile in this dump?”
“I doubt it.” Another said, her Kangaskhan stomping down buildings and the occasional fleeing inhabitant. “Nothing.”
They continued their destruction.
^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
“Where is he?” A young woman in a red cloak demanded.
“Ran off again.” A voice replied calmly. The Master wrapped in his dark blue cloak thought for a second. “I’m guessing… Pallet.”
“Darn it.” She said, as she adjusted her cloak and summoned a pokemon with a snap of her fingers. “Guess I’ll have to find him then…”
^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
“Help me, someone!” A girl screamed.
The man’s Scyther put its blades to her throat. “Shut up, girl.” The man said. He would have said more, but just then, someone wrapped in a black cloak dropped down from behind him and entangled him in a net of crackling black electricity.
The Scyther growled and charged. Instantly, a wave of black fire flashed up in front of the shadowed figure. The Scyther dropped like a stone.
“Good work.” The figure said, before he jumped over a building and towards the center of the town.
^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
“Let’s just grab the supplies and go.”
“Why? Are you scared?”
“No, just worried… what’s that?!”
“It’s a Master!”
“Order!”
The leader of the raiders shouted. “Just because someone’s wearing a cloak
doesn’t automatically make them a master!”
The figure smiled from within
the confines of his hooded cloak. “Umbreon, go.” The dark-type eevelution
materialized in front of his master, ready to battle.
“There’s only one of him. We can take him!” The Kangaskhan, Scyther, Magmar, and Tauros all lined up, ready to battle.
“Fire Blast!”
“Slash!”
“Mega Punch!”
“Horn Attack!”
The Umbreon didn’t even flinch, as its normally red eyes turned yellow. “UMBREON!” It hissed, and a barrage of black lightning bolts stopped all the other pokemon.
“Umbreon, Match Thunder.” Umbreon nodded. In a second, all the raiders and their pokemon lay there, quite obviously dead.
^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
“I can’t believe it.” Said the red-cloaked girl. “What an idiot. Doesn’t he know what he’s going to cause?”
Her pokemon nodded in response.
“I really hope he has a plan…baka…”
^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
Another pair of eyes, these cerulean blue, watched.
“So he’s not on the side of the League…”
“Doesn’t look like it.” Her contact replied. “You could always try the test.”
The blue-cloaked figure nodded and headed off towards the destruction.
^*^*^*^*^**^*^*^*^*^*
“That was most impressive.” The elder said. “Who are you?”
The cloaked figure slowly removed his hood. It was a young man with spiky black hair tamed into a ponytail. His eyes were a strange color. They kept shifting so it was impossible to tell exactly which shade they imbued.
There was a sad look in his eyes. They seemed distant, like his soul or mind was somewhere else.
“You may call me Ash.”
^*^*^*^*^*^*^**^*^*^*
“Target sighted.”
“Excellent work, Mistara.”
“I know. It’s just that this doesn’t feel right. Forcing someone to join our cause…”
“It’s war. Sacrifices have to be made.”
“I know.” A sigh. “I just wish it were someone else.”
“You have no choice. Proceed. I recall that you were the one who proposed this plan.”
“Understood. But I…”
“Love matters not in war.”
“I wish it were that simple…” A sigh and the figure headed off to ambush her prey.
^**^**^*^**^**^*^*^*^*
“There he is… wait.”
The girl reached down and petted her pokemon. “I sense… water nearby. A master. Who do you think the Rebellion would send?”
The pokemon hissed angrily and drew back.
“Yes, I know. We’ll have to see how this turns out…”
^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
Ash stayed the night at the village, despite murmurs and fearful whispers. But the morning after, he prepared to leave.
“Why can’t you stay?” The girl he saved pleaded.
“The League may be coming after me.” Ash said. He nodded to the village elder, and prepared to leave.
“Wait!” A voice said. Ash turned.
A young boy ran up. “Is it true that you were from the pokemon league?”
Ash nodded.
“Then…” The boy hesitated, and handed him a small crystal locket on a gold chain. “I think this is yours…”
Ash took it with an impassive look. “Thank you.”
He quashed the feeling of betrayal that was rising in his veins. * No, don’t think about him! *
“Pidgeot, I choose you!”
A jet-black pidgeot popped out. Ash climbed on and nodded. “Let’s go.”
Pidgeot nodded her head in assent and took off, wings beating. Where are we going?
“For right now… Vermillion.”
^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
“You didn’t tell me he could fly! I thought he only had Umbreon! How am I supposed to locate him now?”
“Easy. Just follow him. Sources tell us he will stop soon.”
“Fine…you had better be right about this!”
^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
*HISS*
Ash jumped out of the way as a
Shadow Arbok reared up in front of him. “So the League sent the poison master
pokemon.” He said. “Very well then.”
The Arbok, furious that its prey was trying to escape, spat out an Acid attack. Do not think that you can escape, Ashura!
“Who said I was going to run?” Ash asked. “Espeon, go!”
A pure black Espeon materialized. Her eyes gleamed deadly, as she charged up a Psychic attack and flung it at the Arbok.
The Arbok managed to Glare, though, stopping the Espeon in her tracks.
Now you pay! The Arbok roared, as she Body Slammed the pokemon and the human. Those useless interfering things… Her jaws dripped venom as she prepared to eat her quarry.
However, all was not going well.
Because just then, there was a flash of light and they teleported out of the way.
That was cheap. Arbok complained, as she used Venom Spray to melt most of the area surrounding her.
Ash nodded to Espeon, and she released a Night Shade attack. This sent the Arbok flying away.
“I hate to do this, but you might tell the league where I was.’ Ash said. “Espeon, use Psychic Ring!”
The attack sent the weakened pokemon to sleep forever.
^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
“You didn’t tell me Misty would get lost.”
“Well, I didn’t know.”
“Strange. I thought we had psychics on our side.”
“We do. It’s just that Will has been getting increasingly trancelike for the past few days. It’s harder and harder to wake him.”
“That’s dangerous. We must finish the prophecy as soon as possible.”
“I know.”
The woman sighed and nudged her pokemon, pocketing her red compact mirror. < I know you’re tired, but we have to keep following her. >
< Sigh. >
< Shh,
rest, Arcanine. I’ll use Rapidash. >
^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
Misty put down her binoculars. “Target sighted.” * about time, * Her mind added. * He seems to be lost. Typical Ash. *
She jumped down.
Ash looked up. “Hi, Misty.”
“You finished off one of the League’s pokemon. You must be good.” Misty said.
“Cut the chatter. I know this isn’t a social visit. What do you want?” Ash asked.
Misty looked sheepish for a second, but regained her composure. “You are not with the League. Why?”
“I refuse to divulge my reasons.” Ash said. He had turned his back on her and was leaving, when suddenly a wave of water drenched him. Ash spluttered and spat some out, coughing.
“I want an answer.’ Misty said in a singsong tone of voice. “Or else.”
Ash suddenly felt as if he were on fire. “What did you do?!” He demanded.
“Oh, that water was mixed with venom.” Misty said matter-of-factly. “I have the antidote. Without it, you’ll be dead in a month.”
Ash glared. “You’re not giving me a choice, are you.”
“No.”
“I really don’t have a choice here, do I?”
Espeon growled at Misty, ready to attack.
“If I die, so does he.” Misty said arrogantly. “Are you sure you want to kill your master?”
< Espeon, don’t attack her. > Ash sent.
Espeon looked enraged. < You should have killed her when you had the chance, back in Viridian four years ago! >
< But…
>
< You love her. > Espeon
said bitterly.
< I…
>
< Don’t deny it. But you
know who loves you. Who has loved you through death, rebirth, times of trouble,
and yet has never strayed. Yet you…>
Ash turned to stare at his pokemon.
“Come with me.” Misty said, taking his silence for assent. “Let’s go.”
Ash sighed and followed her, recalling Espeon in a flash of light.
End Prologue
“Disturb not the balance of fire, ice, and lightning, lest these Titans wreck destruction in the world in which they clash. For though the water’s great guardian shall rise to quell the fighting, alone its song shall fail and thus the world shall turn to Ash.”
Fire that consumes all, and fills the air with light,
Ice that freezes and endures, through long winter nights,
Lightning that brings with it both sunshine and storms,
Light and dark make shadow, the child of mists is born.
Fire’s child is raven-black, ruby feathers glowing,
Ice’s child is sunshine-gold, sapphire feathers snowing,
Lightning’s child is neither, with feathers of stormy gold,
Three primary colors, unite to form as one,
Create the sword of elements, destroy the evil one.
Moltres with the flaming wings, Honou with the calming song, Entei with the earth’s distress, guardian of the traveling halls.
Articuno with the winter’s gaze, Lugia with the restoring rain, Suicune with the water’s spirit, guardian of the dragon’s pain.
Zapdos with the storm’s alarm, Serebii with the mists of time, Raikou with the thunder’s power, guardian of the island clines.
Fire’s child has ocean’s eyes, that see the coming danger,
Ice’s child has silver eyes, that heal the burdened warrior,
Lighting’s child has rainbow eyes, that can soothe or rage,
Red, Blue, and Yellow, together are the way.
Fire’s child is fair of face, but water is her weakness, she cannot see the shadowed paths, loses her pretense of solace.
Fire is the eldest, but the weakest one as well.
Ice’s child is handsome, with dragons by her side; she controls the weather, the wind and roaring tides.
Ice is in the middle, yet her heart can make her fail.
Lightning’s child has beauty, but in an earthly way, his power lies in kindness, and shadows are his prey.
Lightning is the youngest, but his power is most strong.
Fire is the seeker, she finds the hidden demons,
Ice purifies them, with water from the heavens,
Lightning destroys them, with thunder from the skies,
Together three are stronger, than shadow will abide.
Bright flame to call the phoenix, says the fire child,
Holy water to cleanse the presence, ice intones, mild,
Heaven’s Fury to destroy this abomination, lightning’s child continues,
And purify this earth, the spell is now consumed.
None can stand against them, united they are as one.
Yet divide and conquer, may extinguish glowing stars,
Bound my love and magic, three in one combine,
In this way the deadliest battle may be won.
Fire burns with anger, against the raging sea,
She destroys with light and flame,
And devours the twisted tree.
Ice defeats darkness, yet darkness is her soul,
She calls the dragon’s fury,
Drives out the ghosts most foul.
Lightning cries with sadness, and golden hope’s in sight,
He wields the crashing thunder,
Atones wrongs and makes right.
Red stands for fire, burning brightly as the sunlight wanes.
Blue stands for ice and dragon, water, three sides of a coin.
Yellow stands for lightning, and the flyers that haunt the sky.
Combine all three and separate, light, shadow, and dark, unite.
Red and blue make purple, poison and psychic too,
The sinister companions that follow the master group.
Blue and yellow make green, grass and earth is bright,
Are strong spirits and allies that fall before taking flight,
Yellow and red make orange, bugs and steel galore,
Ghosts, fighting, normal types, together they will soar.
The End of the prophecy…
