Hi! This is a new series I am starting! What if Ash didn’t start his journey until he was 13? (That seems like a much more reasonable age.) I am not copying anyone’s story here!! Okay, I don’t own pokémon; it belongs to Nintendo, Game Freak, 4Kids productions, etc. I only own the new pokémon and attacks that I make up! People who use them without permission will be flamed! Yes, Ash will turn into Destiny in this fic! What did you expect? Okay, Pikachu will not be that important in this story! (This is my fic; I am entitled to my own opinions!) In case you haven’t read any of my other stories, () is translated pokémon speech, ** is thoughts, and “” is human speech.

The Beginning- Pallet, Viridian, and Team Rocket

Okay, first some background information. Ash’s mom is a pokémon nurse and Ash helped out at the pokémon center for a long time before he started his journey. Therefore, he knows quite a bit about pokémon. He also has a pet Pidgeot that was abandoned as a Pidgey. Pidgeot is a really high level and trains herself by fighting all the pokémon that come near Ash’s house. Okay, other stuff. Ash’s backpack is subspace, as expected. Ash has a black amulet on a golden chain around his neck. (You know, Destiny’s amulet.)

“Ash, wake up!” shouted his mom. Ash leapt awake and jumped out of bed, fully dressed. His outfit consisted of a pair of blue jeans, a red vest with white sleeves attached, a black t-shirt, black fingerless gloves, and red and white sneakers, plus a red league hat. Pidgeot cawed as she pecked at his hair. “Kay, girl, I’ll feed you later. I have to go!” said Ash. He hadn’t intended to sleep, but he had dozed off anyways. Ash quickly ran outside to Professor Oak’s lab.

“So loser, you finally got here?” asked Gary Oak, Ash’s annoying rival who used to be his friend. Ash gritted his teeth. Just then, Professor Oak came out. “Ah! Ash, Gary, you’re both here! Good! I just got the pokémon. You may each pick one. Ash looked at the poke balls and frowned. “Professor Oak, why are there six poke balls? There are only 3 trainers.”

“Very observant Ash. You see, Professors Ivy, Elm, and I decided that it was too hard for people to start out with only one pokémon. Therefore, to help you out more, you may each have two starters. Now, since Gary got here first, he can pick his first one, then you pick, then Blue, since she was the one who was the latest. You can start picking now.”

Gary looked at the poke balls thoughtfully, and selected his first one. Out popped a cute little Eevee. “All right, this is my first choice!” said Gary jubilantly. “You see Ash, it is beneficial being early.” Ash frowned and looked at them again. Then he reached out and took a poke ball. Out popped a green plant dinosaur. “Bulbasaur.” It said, before jumping on Ash and licking his face. Ash grinned. “I think she likes me!” he said.

Just then, Blue rushed in the door, gasping for breath, her blue hair a mess. “Sorry, I’m late!” she wailed. “Professor, do you have any pokémon left?” Professor Oak laughed and said. “Don’t worry. Why don’t you pick one?” Blue took the poke ball with Squirtle in it. Then, it was Gary’s turn to choose again. Gary chose Charmander, the fire lizard.

Ash looked at the two that were left, Ditto and Pikachu. Ash considered for a moment before picking up Pikachu, which left Blue with Ditto. “Hey, let’s battle!” said Gary. Ash considered for a second before yelling “You’re on!” Gary and Ash exited the lab and stood at opposite sides of a dirt patch. “Are you ready, loser?” asked Gary. “Bring it on!” said Ash.

“Charmander, go!” shouted Gary. “Pikachu, I choose you!” said Ash. “Pikachu, use growl to lower Charmander’s speed and Thundershock!” Gary stared at Ash as Pikachu obeyed and zapped Charmander, which fainted it. “Oh no, Charmander! Eevee, go!” shouted Gary. “Pikachu, tail whip!” said Ash. Pikachu tail whipped Eevee, who countered with Growl. “Thundershock now!” said Ash. Pikachu zapped the Eevee too, which took it out. (Yes, Pikachu can beat Eevee and Charmander; I proved this in my game boy!)

Ash smiled as he headed back to his house. Gary was steaming mad and went to Oak’s lab to heal his pokémon. Just then, Blue ran up. “You want to fight me now?” she asked. Ash shrugged. “Why not. Bulbasaur, go!” Bulbasaur appeared and growled. Squirtle popped out of Blue’s poke ball. Ash grinned as Bulbasaur used tackle, followed by leech seed. Since leech seed saps the enemy’s health and restores your own, and since grass was excellent against water, Squirtle fainted.

“Ditto, go!” said Blue. “Transform!” “Bulbasaur, vine whip!” shouted Ash. The poor ditto got whipped before it could transform, which dramatically lowered its health. Then, it was sapped by leech seed and also fainted. Blue walked away in a huff. Ash continued home and had his mom heal his pokémon.

Ash, Pikachu, Pidgeot, and Bulbasaur were traveling through the woods when they ran into a Beedrill. Ash considered for a moment before calling out “Pidgeot, go!” Pidgeot appeared and shot a Gust attack at the Beedrill, which nearly fainted it. “All right, poke ball go!” shouted Ash. After three wiggles, the ball stopped shaking and Beedrill was caught. Ash hugged Pidgeot before returning her to the poke ball.

Soon, Ash had also caught a Fearow (courtesy of Pikachu) and a Butterfree (Pidgeot again.) He had been fighting off Nidorans and Rattatas with Bulbasaur, who seemed glad of the workout. Now, Ash was nearing Viridian City. Just then, Pikachu zapped a Spearow who had been pecking her.

The Spearow cawed, and soon the sky was full of its relatives. “Uh oh. Run!” shouted Ash as he and his pokémon tried to run away. However, the Spearow were quickly gaining. “Pidgeot, go!” shouted Ash. He quickly climbed on Pidgeot’s back and fled. Pikachu rode on his head and looked back. “Cha…” she said, looking extremely scared.

Ash thought for a moment before grabbing Pikachu tightly and yelling “Pidgoet, Desert Storm!” Ground, Electric, and Wind energy whipped up around Pidgeot and hit the Spearows dead on. “All right! Now lets get to a center!” shouted Ash. Within minutes, they were at the Viridian center. Pikachu, Pidgeot, and Bulbasaur were taken to be healed while Ash read a magazine. Suddenly, a red-haired girl ran in carrying a beat up bicycle.

“Okay, buster, you’re going to pay me back for my bike now!” shouted the girl. Ash looked at her confusedly. “I didn’t do anything to you!” he said. The girl glared at him and said, “Well, whatever attack your pokémon used wrecked my bike big time! It almost killed me too! I demand you pay for my bike!” Ash groaned and said, “I’ll pay you back some other time. Right now, Pidgeot’s tired from using an ultimate attack, Bulbasaur’s near dead, and Pikachu has a bunch of open wounds! Leave me alone! I’ll pay you back later!”

The girl stared at him for a minute before saying, “I’m sorry.” in a soft voice. Then, she held out her hand. “Hi. I’m Misty Williams and I live in Cerulean City. I’m sorry for lashing out at you like that.” Ash considered for a moment before shaking her hand and replying “I’m Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town and I’m going to be the world’s greatest pokémon master!” Misty and Ash sat in silence for a while. Ash played with his pokédex and brought up his pokémon’s stats.

Ash smiled. Soon, he would be heading for the next city, Pewter. The gym leader there used rock-type pokémon. Ash was sure that Bulbasaur would be able to take Brock on. Just then, Nurse Joy came out with a happy Pidgeot. Ash hugged his bird pokémon, who pecked him affectionately. Bulbasaur arrived a minute later-she had been in the rejuvenator because she wasn’t hurt, just tired.

“Is Pikachu ready yet?” asked Ash. “Oh, she’s just resting.” Said Nurse Joy. “You can get her tomorrow morning.” “Okay.” Said Ash. He headed up to his room to take a nap, followed by his two loyal pokémon. Just then, there was an explosion. Ash covered his mouth as Pidgeot flapped her wings, irritated. Two figures appeared in the middle of the center.

“To protect the world from devastation!”

“To unite all people within our nation!”

“To denounce the evils of truth and love!”

“To extend our reach to the stars above!”

“Jessie!”

“James!”

“Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!”

“Surrender now or prepare to fight!”

“Meowth, that’s right!”

Ash stared at them. Team Rocket? Oh yes, the infamous criminal organization led by a mysterious boss. Just then, the Meowth opened its mouth and spoke up. “We’re here to capture any rare pokémon that you got so you’d better hand them over or else…” It claws unsheathed as it growled nastily. “Ekans, go!” shouted a voice. “Koffing, go!” shouted another voice. Ash growled. Two poison types. Well, he could take them on.

“Fearow, go!” The majestic flying pokémon appeared and glared at the crooks. “Fearow, Double Peck!” yelled Ash. The two were chased around and pecked. Meowth tried to interfere but was knocked out by a Wing Attack. Suddenly, Ash’s eyes lit up. *I’ve got it! * “Butterfree, go! Use your whirlwind to blow them away!” Butterfree chirped as it sent Team Rocket flying off. “Team Rocket’s blasting off again!” shouted the trio as they flew into the air and disappeared.

Ash smiled a bit and went to check on Pikachu, who was snoozing quite contentedly. Ash, relieved that his pokémon was okay, headed back to his room. Meanwhile, on a star somewhere above Earth…

“Dat kid’s got a lotta powerful pokémon. We should capture them!” said Meowth. “Yeah! Let’s call the boss!” said Jessie. “I’m sure he’d be pleased.” So they did, and from now on, their assignment was to spy on one Ash Satoshi Ketchum and try and steal his pokémon.

“I guess I’ll be heading to Pewter then.” Said Ash. “And I’m following you until you pay me back for that bike!” shrieked a familiar redhead. Ash sighed as he quickly headed off for Pewter city at a run, Misty following close behind.

So…what do you think? Please review! All new attacks mentioned above are mine, so ask before using them! Do you think Ash is too bad at training? If yes, tell me! Come on, review! I did not take anyone’s idea for this fic, so don’t flame me!
