Ash = Red. I know Ash is Red, because of the Chinese Version. They call him Red in English because… it goes with the Gameboy games! But you know that Red looks like Ash and Blue looks like Gary.
Timeline: Book 4 of pokemon adventures
Title: Fallen Stars
Red looked at his challenge letter. “Bruno of the Elite Four? Hmm… well, I could use another battle.”
Venus, his venusaur, nodded and picked him up with her Vine Whips.
“Now where is this battle going to take place? Mt. Moon?”
I think so! Pika, his Pikachu said.
Red
released Aeroy, his Aerodactyl, and flew to Mt. Moon. “Hello! Bruno?”
There was no reply.
“Don’t tell me it was just a prank.” Red said, getting ready to leave. All of a sudden, the ground beneath his feet started to move. Red jumped off and saw an Onix rear its head.
“Not bad.” A rocky voice boomed.
“You must be Bruno.” Red said.
Bruno stepped out from behind a rock. “Not bad.” He began whirling his nunchucks, with the poke balls on them. There was a flash of light and a pokemon appeared, but before it got anywhere near Red, Pika had shocked it into submission.
A fried Hitmonlee tumbled to the floor.
Red sighed out a mushroom cloud. * I was hoping this would be challenging… * “Hey! Why did you call me out here?”
Bruno’s mouth dropped open in shock. He couldn’t make an audible reply.
“Hitmonchan,
go!”
Red vaulted straight up in the
air and whistled. Aerodactyl popped out of its poke ball and scooped him up in
its claws. “Okay, now use Hyper Beam!” He sighed. * Sheesh! They won’t even
tell me why they challenged me? And who are the “Elite Four” anyways? *
Hitmonchan fell over as the devastating attack took care of it.
“This is getting us nowhere.” Red said. “Can you just answer my question?”
Bruno looked shocked. “That much power?! How?”
Red shrugged. “Well, if we’re not going to battle anymore, I have other things to do.” He continued floating in the air. “And since I’m not getting an answer, I think I’ll leave now.”
“Bruno! I can’t believe you lost.” A voice interrupted.
Red looked up as a redheaded trainer dressed in black jumped down from a Dragonair. “And you call yourself one of the Elite Four?”
“What is the Elite Four?” Red asked.
“We’re a group of trainers on a quest to free pokemon from the evils of humanity.” The trainer said.
*Ring,
ring*
Lance picked up his cell phone. “What is it?!”
“Sorry, but is Red there yet?”
“He just wiped the floor with Bruno, Lorelei. You’re really late. So is Agatha. If I hadn’t been passing by…”
“What?!”
“Anyways, talk to you later.” Lance put the cell phone somewhere and turned to Red. “I have a few questions to ask you.”
“Okay!”
“Do you have the Earth Badge?”
Lance asked.
“No…” Red said, looking down. “I fainted after the battle with Giovanni. I don’t have it.”
“That’s a pity. But I have a second question. Would you like to join our quest, Red? We know you’re one of the best pokemon trainers.”
Bruno was starting to get antsy. * What is Lance planning? *
“Join your quest?”
“You see, humans and pokemon cannot coexist peacefully. Habitats destroyed, rivers polluted, pokemon killed…”
Red closed his eyes. “Yes…”
“Now if a small group of humans remained to take care of the pokemon, while the rest were destroyed…”
Bruno decided he had heard enough. “You’re insane, Lance!”
“Am I?”
“I don’t like this crazy plan you and the rest of the Elites are planning, and I’m not going along with it!”
“As you will.” Lance said, with a careless shrug of his shoulders. “Red?”
Red stared at the dragon trainer. * Those eyes… I’ve seen them before… when I was still a child… *
Pika stared also. * Does he have the Viridian power? *
“I accept.” Red said.
“NO!” Bruno said. “Red, you can’t! I know you love pokemon! But can’t you see what joining them will cause?”
Red did not answer.
Lance smiled. “Then welcome to the Elite Four, Red of Pallet Town.” He whistled and Dragonair reappeared. Red climbed on, and Lance followed him.
Bruno could only stare as they flew off into the distance.
“Our headquarters. Cerise Island.” Lance told him upon landing. Red looked around. * Looks like a cave to me… *
Lorelei stuck her head out. “Oh? You’re back already?”
“Did Agatha lose the badge energy amplifier?”
“No…”
“Bruno just quit the Elite Four.”
“WHAT?!”
Lance nodded. “Where is Agatha, anyways?”
“Last time I checked, she was in Saffron.”
“Bother.” Lance said. “Oh well. Might as well get to work. Make yourself comfortable, Red.”
Red nodded and went off to explore. Soon, he found a cozy nook. He unpacked his backpack and set up his new home.
“Come on, Pika, let’s go see if we can get something to eat.”
Pika perked up.
Meanwhile…
“All done.” Lance said in satisfaction. The pillars glowed with silver light, as each one held a badge set in a special sequence. “Seven badges. I do wish I had the Earth badge though… oh well.”
“Um?”
Lance turned around. “What is it, Red?”
“We’re hungry.”
Lance laughed. “Lorelei is making dinner. It’ll be ready soon.”
Soon, Lorelei came in. “I hope nobody minds having fish again.”
And so, the group settled in.
Red went to sleep that night with a happy little smile on his face, Pika curled up next to him.
