Niarra and Kento walked down the beach, laughing and giggling happily. Niarra kicked up a piled of sand as she blushed deeply. Kento put an arm around her.

Cye and Anbuis sat on the deck watching the two. “There cute, huh?” Cye commented as he smiled over at Anbuis’s ghost. Anbuis nodded “What’s wrong?” Cye asked worried at his older cousin’s expression.

“Niarra…” Anbuis pulsed, “Will live longer then Kento, she’ll be lonely without him.”

“How much longer will she live?” Cye asked never thinking of that.

“At least four hundred years,” Anbuis said standing.

Cye stood, too. “Four hundred years?! Niarra… four hundred years old. What would she look like?” Cye exclaimed.

“The same as she is now,” Anbuis said looking down at the beach where his little sister was talking happily with her boyfriend. Her long black hair shinned in the harsh evening sun light. Anbuis smiled. “Four hundred years until she can see me.”

Cye was standing leaning on the banister thinking over the four hundred years  Niarra would be alive. “You mean she’ll be left on this earth all alone?”

“Yes,” Anbuis answered simply. Just then Kento came walking up the steppes with Niarra fast asleep in his arms.

“She fell asleep, I’ll go put her to bed,” Kento said walking passed Cye.

Anbuis followed Kento up the stairs to her room that she was sharing with Cye ‘til her room in the basement was finished. Kento put her under her covers and kissed her forehead. “Nite twig,” He said leaving unaware of Anbuis.

Anbuis watched Kento leave then knelt down next to Niarra’s bed. “I’ll be waiting for you,” He said and bowed his head and slowly fading away.

The next morning Niarra awoke to Cye’s soft breathing. “And I can’t wait to come,” She

said letting the words rush from her lips. She got up and stared out the window, and wondered what she meant by the words. “And I can’t wait to come,” She repeated liking the words even more.

Anbuis smiled and answered knowing she couldn’t hear him, “I will be waiting for you…

          little hawk, my wandering bird.”
