La Femme Sarah

Prologue

By Northstar

Disclaimer: I'm back again! This one focuses mainly on Sarah. I don't own anything related to the wonderful show La Femme Nikita, or Labyrinth, except for this story. I hope it turns out okay!

The slim figure was nothing out of the ordinary. A fairly typical young woman, pretty hair- almost black in fact. She was dressed in a black leather coat that emphasized her figure, and appeared to be in a hurry. Nothing could be seen of her eyes: she wore a pair of black raybans, even though the sky was overcast.
Approaching in the opposite direction was a well-dressed man in a business suit, talking into a cellphone. Again, nothing out of the ordinary in Brussels. As the two passed each other, the young woman removed a hand from her pocket, and quietly shot the business man and kept walking, leaving him to tumble to the concrete. The young woman had already crossed the street before the screams began. Removing her raybans, the young woman stepped into a waiting black mercedes.
    Just another day in Brussels.

"What do you mean she's gone?! She can't have just disappeared," the Goblin King quietly hissed to one of his minions.
"But it's true, yer majesty, the girl's gone. I saws it meself!" the poor little creature stated, cowering before the rageof his king.
"I'll handle this myself, I can't depend on anyone these days," Jareth muttered, throwing a dark glare at his subjects. "Get out of here, all of you!" The throne room quickly emptied, and the king sat himself on his cold throne. Summoning a vision crystal, he gazed into it, searching for a sign of the girl he had been watching for over a year.
The crystal showed an empty room, obviously the room of a young teenage girl. There was no sign of the occupant. Growling, Jareth banished the crystal and shrank into owl-form. Winging his way out the window, he proceeded to the Aboveground. One way or the other, he was going to find Sarah. Eventually his airy path brought him to the front door. With a slight thought, he changed his appearance into a non-descript one. Raising a gloved hand, he knocked on the wooden front door forcefully.
"Yes? Who is it?" came a worried male voice. The door opened a crack to reveal the fearful gaze of Sarah's father. Making his voice as soothing as possible, Jareth tried to get information.
"I'm a friend of Sarah's. I haven't seen or heard from her in days, and I was wondering if she was sick or anything?" The father's eyes flicked suspiciously to the side, then the door opened further to allow entrance.
"Well, come on in," the father muttered. Jareth was amazed at the man's appearance. His eyes were bloodshot and rimmed with dark circles, his face haggard.
"Darling, what is it?" came a woman's fearful voice- Sarah's stepmother, I believe, Jareth thought. The woman was also haggard, and she held little Toby in a protective grip.
"It's okay, dear, he's a friend of Sarah's," the father replied, attempting to soothe his second wife. Toby hasn't changed much, the king thought, his gaze resting briefly on the child that had provided the opportunity for him to contol Sarah. Closing the door, Sarah's father gestured to the den. "Please, come in and sit down. It's been a terrible week, what with the kidnapping and all."
"Kidnapping?!" Jareth gasped, privately outraged. That anyone would even dare touch HIS Sarah hadn't even crossed his mind. Jareth silently made a vow that he would rend the kidnappers limb from limb if one hair on Sarah's head had been harmed.
"Yes, Sarah was kidnapped. We haven't heard from anyone about a ransom or anything, though," Sarah's stepmother sobbed, rocking Toby gently.
After a few more meaningless pleasantries and after pumping the parents for information, Jareth knew that Sarah was beyond his reach, for now. Later, sitting in his throne room, he pondered the actions he should take.
"You, you, and you, go back to the neigborhood and search every nook and cranny. Don't leave any stone unturned," Jareth said suddenly, pointing his riding crop at three different goblins. As they left, Jareth turned to the rest of his subjects. "The rest of you, go to the Aboveground, and continue the search. Any sign of the girl, and you report back to me immediately, understood?" With a variety of affirmatives, the other goblins scattered. Dropping into the throne in exhaustion, Jareth could only wait, and keep a silent vigil, hoping that wherever she was, Sarah would have the wit to wish herself to the Labyrinth if she was in any danger.
It was a very long wait.

'My name is Sarah Williams. Five years ago, I was taken from my room in the middle of the night, and taken to a place called Section. It is the top anti-terrorist organization in the world, and while the ends are just, the means are utterly attrocious. I was given a choice: join Section as an agent, or die. It was that simple. I soon discovered that I wasn't the only such agent. There are others who have helped me adjust. One of them is my closest friend, Nikita. We don't talk much, they keep the teams separated for the most part. I'm not as strong or as gutsy as she is, but I've managed to survive. I have no other options. Not even the Labyrinth...'
