| Comments: | If you remember, I said I would never do conversion after I completed
my 1/8 Nuku Nuku. However, I really wanted a cute Uehara Anko from Great Teacher Onizuka
and I remember I promised milie Sauriol I'll do one someday. She's my favorite female
character in this manga and watching this Asuka GK, I found out both were quite similar,
except few hair and face features. Also, the skirt was the same and the top was easy to
convert into a jacket. So I decided to start the conversion. Actually, I'm quite
satisfied with the result but everything lays in her face. If I succeed, the kit will be
beautiful. When I see this kit at WHF 2003, I knew I needed this it and fortunately, it was quickly recasted and I get my hand on my copy. It was purchased from E2046.com for 29.50 $ US. I was the one who get the first recast from the mold! That's right, each part was covered with thoses black pen lines that recasters draw on the original to decide where seamline should be... That's great and the result is a kit why almost invisible seamline! (Usagi: "Lucky! ^_^") |
| Conversion process: | This time, when I decided to do an other conversion, I was careful to see if it was worth. As you know, Uehara Anko have a lot of similar characteristics with Asuka. |

Hair: Both have the same kind of hair cut, although Uehara's hair are shorter (both have two pins in their head except their front hair are different and Uehara got locks each side of her face. For the new front part, I used Green Stuff and molded it in place, I also used it to fill in joint holes on the back head. I decided to cut off, modify and reorganize the hair parts to achieve the same design as Anko. It's for this reason I had to remove a big chunk of resin under her head. That's right, Ueharo have long hair but they are all attached by the pins, that's not the same for Asuka; she got lose long hair. For this reason I sculpted this part and also engraved new hair motif on the unaltered part. For Uehara's red rounded pins, I decided to use plastic-headed needles use in sewing. |

Face: The face is the essential part of any GK. Eyes make or destroy a GK. Uehara and Asuka face are a little bit different. First of all, Asuka have anime eyes & Anko have more asian almond-shaped eyes. To obtain the same result, I filled the eyes engraving and edges with Tamiya putty. This way I'll paint the eyes the shape I want. The nose is also a little bit different. Asuka's nose curls up and Anko's nose is a little more realistic. Happily both are located according the same proportion, so I just had to had putty to obtain a satisfying result. The last part I modified was the chin. Asuka's face is really pointed and Anko have more human proportions. For this reason I sanded her chin to obtain a more rounded effect. I think everything will depend on my capacity to reproduce Uehara's character in her eyes. |

Fuku: Asuka is wearing a popular sailor fuku but Uehara wears a classic school uniform with a jacket (winter) or a pullover with a smock (it remembers me my first and only girlfriend, those old uniform got there charm for sure!). I decided to choose the jacket version because it was easier to model, it gave the best look and also permitted me to reproduce Yoshikawa & GTO's revenge on her at the karaoke salon. Technical work: I reshaped the sailor collar to serve as base for the new jacket collar. To make the sailor shirt, I enlarged it with paper slip I glued on her. It was a wise choice because paper has a fabric texture and also forms realistic folds. I also reshaped her sleeves. The sailor sleeves are made of soft fabric and have a lot of folds but a jacket is more stiff. For this reason, I used Green Stuff to give more volume in some stretched places. I also used it to model more stiff shoulders. The last work was done on the cuffs. The sailor fuku have cuffs, but the jacket not. The only common point is the smock depassing under the jacket. To achieve this effect, I scratched the engraved lined motif and sculpted a encaving to separate the jacket cuff from the smock. Finally, I used Green Stuff to form a more stiff-looking jacket border. There was no alteration on the skirt part because they are exactly similar in shape and lenght. |
| Additional parts: I plan to sculpt a karaoke mike and place it as it felt off her right hand. | |
| Painting: Since the painting scheme is rather simple and the figure have a sensual aspect, I decided to permit myself few things. For this reason, as a fan "clin d'oeil", I painted her panties in pink and wrote on them the same thing Onizuka wrote on when he took Yoshikawa's Revenge at a karaoke salon: "Excuse us Yoshikawa, please look at our butt." ^^ | |
