The Bedtime Story

Shh, little one
And mommy will tell you a story
Wait for the sun
This tale is surely gory

It's about the wolves who howl
To the silver moon
Can you smell the scent so foul?
They will all be here soon

They will swallow you whole
And lap up your blood
They will curse your soul
With manure and mud

Do not venture into the night
When the stars come out to play
Get back before you lose sunlight
Be sure not to lose your way

The rich little girl
The poor little boy
She has the world
He has not a toy

They do not discriminate
All peoples are the same
They lick their jaws and wait
Until you've become lame

But quiet your tears
Say not a word
Calm your fears
Keep what you've heard

Beasts will watch you
But be not afraid
They cannot get through
Unless its a doorway you've made

Shh, baby, close your eyes
You've yet to commit a crime
Commit, and you'll hear their cries
But for now, it's just your bedtime
