William F. Hartman
Dies at Lancaster.Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 o'clock for the late William F. Hartman, 83, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert B. Clepper, 939 Maple Ave, Lancaster from the late home. Further services will be at 10:30 o'clock from Covenant U.B. Church, Lancaster.
Mr Clepper (note should state Hartman) was born in Columbia, a son of the late John and Elizabeth Hartman and succumbed to heart trouble acording to Dr. A. V. Walter, deputy coroner. He was a member of the Covenant U.B. Church, Lancaster and was a painter by ocupation.
He is survived by the following children: Walter E. of Enhaut; Arthur W. of Harrisburg; Elizabeth wife of Albert B. Clepper, of Lancaster; Edith, wife of Walter Rineer, of Columbia; William F. Jr. of Columbia; Marguerite, wife of Benjamin F. Kotchin, of Detroit; Cyrus (note should read Silas)of Columbia; and Clara, wife of Robert Stultz, of Palmyra; also the following stepsons: Frank Haug, of Mt. Joy; Paul Haug of Columbia; and John Haug (note was Haug son adopted by John A Snyder) of Hempfield; two brothers, John and Charles Hartman both of Columbia, twenty-one grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Amanda married Julius Haug on May 31, 1891 in Manheim, Lancaster Co, Pa at the age of 19. Julius was 22 at the time of the marriage and was born in Germany. He died Mar 30, 1899. Marriage license No 6245 Book K Volume 1 page 6245 on file Lancaster County Courthouse. After father Julius Haug's death on March 30, 1899, son Jacob Haug was adopted by John A Snyder and his name was changed to John Snyder. Paul and Frank Haug brothers of Jacob were sent to children's homes in Lancaster City. Paul and Frank later moved back to live with mother Amanda and stepfather William F Hartman on small family farm in West Hempfield Twp, Lancaster Co. Jacob, Paul and Frank are all buried in Silver Springs Cemetery, Lancaster Co.Amanda married William F. Hartman on October 4, 1900 in Manheim, Lancaster Co, Pa. William was age 45, a house painter residing in Columbia. She was 28 and living in Manheim. Marriage license Book F, Volume 2, page 17187 on file Lancaster County Courthouse.

Obituary from Columbia newspaper:Mrs Amanda Hartman, 73 died last night at 10:45 o'clock at her home, 841 Blunston Street. Death followed an illness of one week. A daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Kinard) Waser, she was a member of the Salome United Brethren Church and was employed as an operator at the Tidy Products Corporation.
The following children survive: Frank Haug, Mt. Joy; Paul Haug, Columbia; John Synder, Lancaster; Elizabeth wife of Albert Clepper, Lancaster; William Hartman, Edith, wife of Walter Rineer, and Silas Hartman, all of Columbia, Marguerite, wife of Benjamin Kothchin, Detroit, Michigan and Miss Clara Hartman of Paradise. Twenty-one grandchildren, one (sister) Clara Harry of Rochester, New York, and two brothers, Amos Waser of Manheim and David Waser, also survive.

Newspaper article, November 18, 1961, ColumbiaMr. and Mrs. Harry Reese, Sr., 536 Manor Street, observed their 50th wedding anniversary yesterday. The couple was married on November 17, 1911 in the St James Lutheran Church parsonage by the Rev. Gentzler. Mrs Reese was the former Jane Fulton of Trenton, New Jersey.
The couple are the parents of eight children all of Columbia; Anna wife of Carl Johns; Isabelle wife of Silas Hartman; Harry Jr.; Eve wife of Harry Doutrich; Dean, Leroy, Shirley wife of John McFarland Jr. and Charles. They also have thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A buffet style supper will be held today in honor of the event.

Columbia - Harry Reese Sr., seventy-two, 536 Manor St., Columbia, died at his home at 10 p.m. Friday after a long illness.
The husband of Jane Fulton Reese, he was bron in Columbia, the son of the late George B. and Eva Appley Reese.
He was a retired watchman for the Grinnell Corp. In Columbia and was a member of the Susquehanna Fire Co.
Surviving in addition to his wife are eight children: Anna Mae wife of Carl Johns, Mountville; Isabelle, wife of Silas Hartman; Harry Jr.; Eva wife of Harry Doutrich; Dean George; Leroy N; Shirley, wife of John McFarland; and Charles L, all of Columbia.
Also surviving are two brothers; Walter, Wrightsville R1, and Edward Willow Street RD; a sister, Marguerite, wife of Horace Desher, Columbia; 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
