Worked as a loom operator at the Bluebird Silk Co, 12th & Manor Sts, Columbia, Pa at time of marriage in 1933. Played softball on the company team. Went to night school in Hershey to learn the machinist trade. Was employed over 25 years at Allis Chambers, Dept C, York, Pa as a machinist/lathe operator at time of his death. An avid hunter and trapper who raised many hunting dogs during his life. He was well known for tanning hides and was always at home outdoors in the wood lands surrounding Columbia. His first dogs were coon and fox hounds known as red bone and blue tick hounds which he purchased out of state. He later raised beagles and often entered the dogs in field trails. He was a member of the Yorkanna Game and Gun Club and Swatara Beagle Club for many years. He fell over dead preparing to feed his beagles.

Obituary from Columbia newspaperColumbia - Isabelle Hartman, 82 of 917 Blunston St. died Tuesday in Lancaster General Hospital (Note Susquehanna Branch at Columbia).
She worked for the former Keystone Cap Co. here, was a volunteer at Columbia Hospital; a member of DeMolay mother (circle) of the Riverside Eastern Star chapter; and a member of Columbia United Methodist Church.
She was the widow of Silas Hartman. Surviving are a son, John of York Haven; three daughters, Nancy Foltz of Columbia, Sylvia Mundis of Red Lion and Debra Lebzelter of Mount Joy; three sisters, Anna Johns of Lancaster, Eva Doutrich of Mount Joy and Shirley Hollingsworth of Columbia; two brothers, Leroy Reese and Harry Reese III (Jr), both of Columbia; 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Kraft Funeral Home. Burial will be in Silver Spring Cemetery. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster 17603.
