HOMEROOM Nushi shut the door behind her as she entered her new homeroom, making sure she didn't close it on her hair. Turning to the front of the class, she saw that the teacher had been expecting her in particular. With a soft sigh, she trudged to the front of the class to be introduced. Aeris: Picking up a pencil from the imprinted groove in her desk, Aeris wistfully sighed, nervous gaze placed to the empty seat near her own old, withering desk. After the door shutting resounded across the room, her attention was quickly drawn upward to the approaching girl to their instructor. Who was this, she thought, anxiously edging a piece of crimson hair through her fingertips. Nushi slings her satchel from her shoulder, dropping it on the teacher's desk. She looks at the woman, waiting for the usual introduction. She can remember the last time, when she heard these words: 'All right class, this is Nushi Hiryuuno. She's new here so everyone be nice'. That was just about what every new teacher said. Everyone always mispronounced her name, too. Aeris: As her pack was slung onto the desk, the sound also resounding through the quiet classroom, her attention was strategically placed onto the new girl. Who was she? A brow was raised in gentle questioning, her throat cleared softly to grasp the teacher's attention. Perhaps her own impatience prompted her to do so. Teacher: Looks at the new girl and sighs not wanting to deal with another student. "Alright class. This is the new girl." Looks at the entire class. "Try to be nice." Aeris: Sighing quite audibly and wistfully too, her smoldering gaze is cast along her right side, toward the empty chair and desk. Place her here, here here here! Her mind was screaming out to the teacher, but she knew better than to say anything and risk being teased the entire year. She'd been desperate for a change since her junior year. Teacher: Watches the new girl just standing there. "Well... What are you waiting for? Sit down somewhere." Nushi quirks a brow at this introduction. What was this? New York certainly wasn't what she was used to, even when it came to the 'outside world'. She bowed deeply to the class, grinning at the few giggles from her peers. "My name is Hiryuuno Nushi. You may call me Nushi." At the teacher's command, she bows her head, snatching her satchel off the desk. "Aye, M'Lady." With that, she hurries to the nearest empty seat: right beside Aeris. Mika: "Nice to meet you, Nushi." Mika said lightly poking her in the back to get her attention. Aeris: The strange use of old English left in the air caused a second brow to rise, and as the girl sat herself in the seat right beside her, she filled with mixed emotions. Was this girl all right? Perhaps extraneous... but definitely worth investigating. A gentle nudge of the same nervously twirled pencil onto the floor aided her introduction, "Hi, I'm Aeris. Welcome to New York." Teacher: "Alright... The rules in this class are simple: no talking and no disruptive behavior. So everyone be quiet and take out a pencil... quiz time." Mika: Mika sits quietly after saying hi, holding her pencil ready to begin. Aeris: Grasping her pencil from the linoleum region, she straightened, pushing a few strands of her hair into place. Exhaling a sigh at the quiz, she watches Mika in the ultimate quiz position, chuckling a little bit before returning her attentions to the new girl. Teacher: Passes out the quizzes. "Any cheating and the whole class gets a 0" Nushi turns suddenly at the poke to her back. "What? Ah, aye, well met." She nods slightly to Mika, wondering why the girl decided to actually poke her. Her brows still lifted in question, she glances at the girl beside her. "Well met, Aeris." She bows her head elegantly, pausing as she hears the word 'quiz'. Her hand suddenly shoots into the air with a note of indignance tingeing her voice. "Pardon, M'lady... but... a quiz, in homeroom?" Teacher: "Do you have a problem with that Nushi?" A quiz is placed on her desk, and she lowers her hand, glaring at the teacher whom she now images as a large ogre. "M'Lady, 'tis highly irregular. After all, this is my first day of class! Again I stress, this is a homeroom. What could possibly have been learned during this period?" Nushi crosses her arms over her chest, frowning deeply. She nods, her bangs bobbing slightly before falling back into place. "Aye, I do have a problem." She swivels in her seat, narrowing her eyes at Mika. "Will you tolerate such an act? A quiz, in homeroom? It is preposterous!" Teacher: Picks up the quiz that she had handed to Nushi and glares at the girl. "If you had been here earlier you would know this is a quiz that every child in this school must take, but sense you have a problem with it..." Throws away the quiz. "Please do not disrupt the children that do not have a problem with the test." Mika: Moving a bit close to Nushi's back Mika whispers to her.."she gives us quizzes, just like any other class. You'll get used to it after a while." Then goes back to her test-ready position. Nushi jumps to her feet at the teacher's statement. Her hands fall to her sides, smoothing out the rough leather of her skirt. "I was not here earlier, for I was traveling with my family. Adventures do such to a woman. I am no child, but a woman. Nor are these people here children. I will not disrupt them, for I will not be here to disrupt them. I will not pay homage to an ogre such as thee." She turns to Mika, staring down at her coldly. "One does not grow accustomed to being mistreated. Nor will I stand for this sort of treatment." Teacher: Watches the girl throw a hissy fit, and grits through her teeth, "My lady you are a child until you learn to respect your elders." Mika: "Hey.." Mika says with that wave-hand gesture. "You've obviously never been in New York before.." Teacher: "Mika, please stay out of this." Mika: "So why don't you just sit back down and I'll fill you in about the school some at lunch?" At this statement, Nushi purses her lips. "I do not respect one who does not first show me the respect I deserve as a warrior. I shall never respect a decrepit ogre." She lifts her chin proudly, not even bothering to glare at the teacher any longer. She stoops only to shoulder her satchel before turning. Teacher: Is confused by Nushi, "Where are you going?'' Nushi frowns as the teacher snaps at Mika. She drops her satchel to the floor, turning to face the ogre her mind projects (the teacher). "I was going to leave thine foul presence, but I do not believe I will any longer. I cannot stomach the sight of thee, but I will ignore this fact." She stands inches from the teacher, dwarfed by at least two inches now. She looks up to the woman, proud as ever. "Do not ever speak down to me and thou willst be safe, ogre. I do not trust thee. I do not like thee. Remember this." Teacher: "I am not the one speaking down to you. You are the one calling me an ogre. Now please, just sit down and be quiet." She glances back at Mika before returning her glare to the ogre. "And thou shouldst remember, foul creature, never to bite the hand that feeds thee. Thine pupils, as they are, are thine glory. Without these students..." With this, she waves a hand to represent the entirety of the classroom. "Thou wouldst be less than nothing." Teacher: "Miss Hiryuuno, if you do not quiet down I will send you to the principal's office. I do not believe you would like that.... and please, stop calling me names." Nushi chuckles softly. "Why would I not call thee an ogre? Thou art an ogre. How you came to teach these mages and warriors I know not, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt." She only nods. "I call thee no names. Quite honestly, I have found most ogres to be the most respectable of fellows. Very few, however, ever taught." Teacher: Is rather confused by the young lady in front of her, "Will you have a seat then?" With a coy smile, Nushi slips into her seat, pulling her satchel to her. "I am done." She crosses her legs, smoothing out the short leather skirt. Teacher: "Alright..." Wishes the class period would end sooner. Mika: "Nushi," Mika whispers to her, not moving, and not letting the teacher see her speak. "what she said about the principal; think of him, as an all powerful demon that youre not ready to fight yet.. You don't want to get sent in there, ok? Trust me." Teacher: Smiles at the class rather tired. "Any questions about anything?" Nushi grins at the proposed question, idly adjusting her halter-top. She next adjusts her hair behind her so that it does not drape into the walkway between desks. After a short pause, she raises her hand with a devious smile. Teacher: Is rather upset she asked... "Yes Nushi?" It would seem as if Nushi did not hear Mika's words, though she has. They might have been the teasing of a girl who didn't know what was going on, or the inspiration of a woman who was 'playing along', but Nushi took them to heart. Demon. In time, she will be ready to fight it. Mika: Mika, sitting behind Nushi, just frowns slightly wondering what's going to happen next, thinking to herself, 'this is going to be an interesting day..'. Nushi smiles politely to the ogre; her tone is teasing. "Will this be on the next test?" Before the ogre has a chance to respond, an ear-splitting ring fills Nushis ears. She shuts her eyes tightly in an attempt to tune out the irritating sound. Around her, students file out of their desks, gathering their books together as they hurry to their next class. Nushi sighs again, standing with an air of boredom. She shoulders her satchel once more before exiting the classroom, throwing a glance over her shoulder at the ogre who now sits in bewilderment. |
