After about 4 years had passed sense the first Fullmetal anime series ended in 2004 (there was the movie in 2005 too, but I'm not counting that), it was announced in late 2008 a new anime series would be made. The people in charge of the project claimed that the new series will stay closer to the manga storyline that Hiromu Arakawa originally wrote in the manga. Many fans (myself included) where thrilled to hear this, knowing how very different the first anime was compared to the manga, and that the manga contained many things the fans wished to see animated. The supposed remake hit the Japanese airwaves on April 5, 2009.

In the first episode alone, its clear that the people who worked on the series tired to make it as different from the first series as possible. With a new director, different animation style that resembles the manga more closely (especially with the character designs), new composer for the music, several new voices as well as a few returning old ones, and possibly the most noticeable is the fact that the new series is presented in widescreen format, unlike the last one. So did these people live up to their word about this remake being loyal to the manga? Lets find out shall we?
