Fiery Temper: A special Note
I'll be the first to admit it. One of my favorite 'Net hobbies is to zip around Anipke Character Shrines to find the bad ones and tell them exactly what's crappy about their sites.
I'm blunt and I'm cold about it. If a layout's disorganized, you'll know. If info is wrong or doll-boxed, I'll correct you. If there's nothing but empty chat rooms and bad (or fake) thumbnails, I'll definitely tell you.
I've gotten numerous flames on this. "You have no right to tell me..." Yeah, sure. Don't put it up if you don't want people to see it. "It took hours and hours..." Well then you must have taken a lot of lunch breaks, because it looks like you lost your train of thought more than once.
I'm no perfect Webmistress myself. I can't write HTML to save my life... so I don't try. I use WYSIWYG editors so it at least comes together properly and make graphics that go around HTML. It looks okay and it
works.
One thing I have a right to is my opinion. I don't care whether or not your buddies say that your site is the most amazing thing on the web, if I don't think it's better than crap you'll know how I think it can be fixed. Look at AQ. Do I need a review site to state the facts? No.
Just be warned. If I'm insulting, don't sign my guestbook with a childish pout about your site being SOOOO much better than mine. Twenty bucks says that you didn't even glance at it. Simply email me (calmly) and address my comments. Ask why I thought these things, I always do it for a reason. If you don't agree, don't change it. I certainly won't be back.
If you need a new layout and don't have a photo editor, ask around (
hello, the amazing Lycentia!) If you need in-depth info, research more. Content? Coloring books, quizzies (a personal favorite of mine) rant pages, graphics sets (if you are so inclined) and sounds 'n' sights are all ideas that never go out of style on pages.
It's all fixable. Except maybe my love of correction.
So don't bother trying to fix that.
