Hotaru and Chibiusa meet in SMS when Chibiusa's hat blows away in the wind while she is at the park. Both run to catch it, causing Hotaru to become weak and gasp for air.

Hotaru and Chibiusa meet in SMS when Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibimoon are fighting a deimon outside of the Tomo Research Labs. Hotaru is there, and notices Chibimoon's arm is hurt after the battle. She heals her, and wraps her arm in a handercheif.

In the manga, this is pretty much the same except that it only happens around the Silver Imperium Crystal, and/or when Chibiusa is using her Crystal.

To become Mistress 9, Hotaru is forced to swallow Chibiusa's Heart Crystal. Then Mistress 9 takes the Holy Grail from Sailor Moon and gives it to Pharoh 90.

Mistress 9 possesses Hotaru, steals Chibiusa's Imperium Silver Crystal, swallows it, then gives the power to Pharoh 90.
