Season 1:
Sailor Moon (Ep. 1-46)
Season one is the big SHA-BANG, if you will, of the Sailor Moon world, which
consists of five
different seasons, comprising 200 episodes, 3 movies, and a 15 minute waste
of time…I mean mini-movie.
The first episode ("A Moon Star is Born") begins with a clumsy, obnoxious,
rather stupid 14 year
old girl who attends Cross Roads Jr. High; or put easier: your average blonde;
Serena, (Usagi Tsukino in
Japan) is told by a special talking cat-Luna (now THAT'S originality folks)
that she has the power to
transform into the Champion of Justice: Sailor Moon.-However she falls a little
short, actually she falls a lot
short, she usually wins all her battles by luck, or because the d@$! cats
start scratching the villains… But
anyway, Serena also finds that she is the leader of a team of Pretty Soldiers:
(in order of appearance)
Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus.
Sailor Mercury manifests herself in the episode known to us Americans as:
Computer School Blues
(That's the best DiC could come up with… SO BACK OFF) She is in fact the EXTREMELY
intelligent
transfer student in Serena's class, Amy Anderson (Ami Mizuno) She receives
her powers from Luna
when her computer school teacher turns into a crazy red chick that has axes
for arms, but prefers to throw
papers at people (Apparently they were RAZOR-SHARP papers… like that makes
a difference.) Sailor
Mercury has the power to control water but prefers to dish it out in the form
of 'Bubbles' (what more do
you need when you're fighting a chick that likes to toss around paper)
The evil Villainess behind these crazy monsters is Queen Beryl whose first
name is like Morgona or
something lame like that, but they never say it. Morgona 'Queen' Beryl has
four generals in her arsenal of
youmas (demons). In order of appearance: Jadeite, Nephlyte (do I sense a mineral-theme
here), Zoicite
(in the original was male) and Malachite (Zoicite's lover *cough*cough*) These
four generals take their turn
at getting their @$$es kicked by the Scouts (Senshi)
Jadeite is the first at bat. He tries to go around stealing energy from people,
how special. He first
attacks Serena's friend Molly's Mom's Jewelry Store (did I confuse you yet?)
in the first episode then
Amy's Computer School Classmates (leave the smart kids alone, d@%# it!) then
he gets a big bus and
makes it disappear with kids on it, that's in the episode where we meet Raye
Hino (or Rei Hino-Take your
pick…) She is the beautiful Shinto Priestess who doubles as Sailor Mars-with
the power to control fire.
I think that episode is called School Bus Blues… No but really its called:
"An Uncharmed Life"
After awhile people got sick of Jadeite and his lame-@$$ monsters so the
girls hired a 747 to chase
him down (note: this is not what really happened, but its d@%# close) They
had a little rendezvous at an
airport where Jadeite manhandled Tuxedo Mask (the Senshi's Male counterpart-he
throws Roses, Ami
uses bubbles and that evil red chick throws paper… I think I could kick all
their @$$es) But the scouts
managed to get Jadeite's own evil 747 to run him over. The Queen formally
known as 'Morgona' didn't like
the fact that Jadeite had been hit by a plane so she killed him.
Nephlyte (Nephrite in the Manga) took over. Nephlyte has this weird fetish
with the stars and goes
around reading horoscopes (not really) trying to find out who has the greatest
energy level for the day.
Nephlyte also does something kinda important *GASP* he searches for the '7
rainbow crystals' which when
brought together make the Silver Imperium Crystal (Ginzuishou in Japan) *dun
dun dun*. The Scouts are
also after these crystals which are found in the bodies of a bunch of random
people. If the Scouts can get
a hold of them they will be able to find out who their Moon Princess is (I
know! I know! Its gotta be
Sammy!-Serena's brother!) This is the segment of the show where Lita (Makoto
Kino) is introduced in the
episode: "Jupiter Comes Thundering In", She's one tough cookie, and was kicked
out of her last school
for fighting***.(If you ask me she should be kicked out of her new one (Cross
Roads) for not wearing the
right uniform. (Apparently the Cross Roads one doesn't fit her…Don't bother
to get a new one or
anything…) Anyway Lita turns out to be the love-hungry Sailor Jupiter with
the power to control Lighting
(although she doesn't hit a youma until the 3rd season, but she does come
close a lot!)
***NOTE BY NICOLE: Makoto was NOT kicked out for fighting. That was
a rumor made up by the
students because they were afraid of Makoto. She left her last school by her
own FREE WILL because
her heart was broken by her sempai (older classman). Get it straight Pat!
When Nephlyte dies due to extenuating circumstances… Actually Zoicite killed
him, but extenuating is
a fun word. By that time all the 7 crystals STILL haven't been found so Zoicite
looks for them, and
eventually finds them. And somewhere in the middle she dresses up like Sailor
Moon and She and
Malachite (Kunzite in the Manga) Try to kill all the Scouts but Sailor Venus-Mina
(Minako Aino) appears
with her cat Artemis in the episode: "Sailor V Makes the Scene" and uses her
Crescent-Beam and her
power to control… Crescent-Beams… To thwart Zoicite and Malachite's plans.
Eventually there comes an episode where Serena and Darien (AKA Tuxedo Mask)
go to
'Starlight Tower' (AKA Tokyo Tower) together, not knowing eachother's identities.
What unfolds in the
tower is super exciting… actually its just an excuse for the animators to
make a bunch of episodes with
no point to them. Serena and Darien are forced to transform in front of one-another
revealing their identities
as Sailor Moon and Tuxedo mask (what a surprise!). Zoicite and Malachite get
the crystals from Sailor
Moon and Tuxedo Mask but Sailor Moon starts to cry after Zoicite kills Tuxedo
mask, and the crystals
come back (I think they felt sorry for her) and form the Silver Imperium Crystal.
Serena turns into Princess
Serenity and she and Tuxedo Mask (Prince Darien) remember their past. Then
Darien gets kidnapped by
Queen Beryl and Princess Serenity makes Zoicite and Malachite go away using
her Crescent-Wand-W/-
Imperium-Crystal-on-Top (Yes folks that's all one word).
Queen Beryl kills Zoicite for being a &!%*@, and uses the Negaforce
(the thingy that they're gather
energy for.-Queen Metallia in Japan) to brainwash Prince Darien into being
evil. A bunch of episode's
follow where Evil Prince Darien tries to gather all the people who used to
hold the Rainbow Crystals
(Known as Shadow-Warriors) and throws a lot of Black Roses that turn red for
a second (to symbolize his
being good) but then go back to black (meaning he's still bad)
Finally, just when you thought it would never end, the Scouts go to Antarctica
(where Beryl's
hide-out is-Even though I thought it should've been in a Secret Volcano Lair)
and they float around in
space one episode where they meet Queen Serenity (Serena's real mom) and she
tells them all this good
stuff about their being Princesses in the past and how Queen Beryl attacked
their happy home and what
-not. Queen Serenity told them how, when they all died, she used the last
of her powers, along with the
Silver Imperium Crystal, to send everyone to the future, even the bad guys
(Hey, she's no Einstein, back
off). Then the Scouts go back to the present. Sailor Moon kills Malachite
for abusing Luna and Artemis
and then the Scouts are off to kick some Morgona-@$$.
Originally a two-part episode in Japan, the scouts killing Queen Beryl ("Day
of Destiny") is
where this season culminates and through the grace of God, finally ends. It
goes a little something like this:
The Scouts trot around the Antarctic and one-by-one get picked off and killed
by the Doom and Gloom
girls. They all die (and give motivational speeches as they stop breathing)
until only Sailor Moon is left, she
runs around the Antarctic a little more, just for effect, before finally meeting
queen Beryl in her secret-under
-ground-Antarctic-lair. There Darien remembers who is his, due to the fact
that Sailor Moon has a locket
that plays the show's theme song. Then he dies, but not before he takes a
good stab at Queen Beryl.
Queen Beryl dies then the Negaverse gives her some more power and her hair
turns green. She and Sailor
Moon (now Princess Serenity) Duke it out while 'Carry On' Plays in the background.
Princess Serenity
asks for all the Scouts help, and when they all put their hands on hers and
scream real loud Queen Beryl
dies from the big ball of pink energy that is emitted from the wand. Then
all the Scouts die. But due to the
powers of the Silver Crystal they are reborn without knowing their real identities
as Sailor Scouts.
