A fan fic by Caleyndar.
Rating: PG.

Notes: A time for confrontation. A time for battle. A time
to accept one's life and soul, one's future, one's pain.
A time to grow up. A time to fight. Yes, fight, live, just
don't die.
Part of this chapter is set in space, and the
characters are seen fighting in vaccum without any space
equipment. This of course is not possible in real life.
The reason this can happen here is 1. they all possess
powers of some kind or very advanced technology. 2. this
is fiction.

The Name Endymion...

Part Five: The War of Peace...

Chapter Five...

A glorified coffin. That was what the conference
room was. A box without portals to the world beyond. Only
the active humans within it made it seem less lifeless, to
give the illusion that it was just a room deep within the
stomach of the Dark Dragons flag and command ship.
I embraced my Mother when she entered, and her
kind brown eyes filled with joy seeing me well and no
longer just a wandering spirit. With few words I introduced
Serenity to her, my Love curtsying with a shy smile and
bowed head. My Mother laughed softly, so much like a girl,
and wished her a wonderful future. Blushing , she whispered
the reply that no matter the future, she would be happy as
long as I was by her side. Again my Mother laughed, kissing
her on both cheeks.
A much more mature woman stepped into the room,
and Serenity ran into her Mothers arms. The Queen with
silver hair and crystal blue eyes smiled down at her
daughter. Moments later, Queen Selenity looked up at me
and nodded. I stepped forward towards her and bowed
formally, giving a small smile to the regal queen whose
forehead bore a golden crescent moon.
The symbol caught my attention. It lacked the blue
and green earth which appeared on both Serenitys and my
own forehead. Again the importance of us being together
was thrust in front of my face. It seemed to scream out to
me to pay it attention, to acknowledge my destiny. And all
I could do as I stood in front of the Queen of the Moon
Kingdom was not shout at the top of my lungs that the
destiny, that the fate set before me, could not be!
"Prince Endymion, are you alright?" Queen Selenity
ever soft and kind voice asked, her hand lifting my chin,
forcing me to stare into her wise and seemingly all knowing
eyes.
I shook my head slightly, casting away the terror
that seeped into my thoughts. "I am alright, Queen
Selenity," I answered, forcing a smile. "Please, let us
begin this conference."
To my relief, she let the subject drop, and the
long conference began. It was uncomfortable to say the
least. Both my Mother and Queen Selenity found it uneasy
to talk to each other after seventeen years of silence.
Both were too proud in their own way to admit the war was
in vain, and that it had been one terrible mistake. In
reality, my Mother was not the one to blame for the war.
It was my Father who began it, never bothering to find out
the truth behind the destruction of the Earth Kingdom. And
what choice did Queen Selenity have but to defend her
people?
But in the end, no matter what the other believed
or thought, a treaty was signed, witnessed by billions
across the galaxy via hyperspace link ups.
When I lifted my pen from the document, the roar
of applause that greeted my ears from within the room and
from the screens scattered about it was almost deafening.
A smile was pasted apon my face as I addressed the camera
which would send my image and voice to so many souls.
Bravely, I announced to all that cared to listen that yes,
the war between the Moon Kingdom and the Earth Kingdom was
at an end, and yes, I was still alive after so many years,
and would now take control over the entire Earth Kingdom.
My promises followed, that I would do all in my power to
ensure peace, to rebuild ruined empires, to bring life
again to dead worlds.
None of this touched me. I did not feel the
happiness and hope my people felt. The joy within the
people standing around me did not even exist. Not to me.
Not past my skin. The smile apon my face was no reflection
of my soul. It was fake.
Silence again. The transmission was cut, the
applause faded, gone. If only they knew what would follow.
Though this War of Peace would not touch them directly,
should we lose, everything would have been for nothing.
My friends and guards were all smiling at me,
patting me on my back, telling me how well I had spoken,
that I was a natural leader. Yes, yes. I smiled back, I
nodded.
It was late. The hours were that of early morning.
I should rest, I should sleep. But simply, I could not.
Everyone else had retired, with the Outer Soldiers having
returned to their distant and cold posts in the darkness
of space. I alone stood in an empty darkened hallway, one
side a thick metal wall, the other transparent steel which
served as windows through out the space craft. Always I
found myself looking at the darkness. I wanted to ask it,
why did things have to be so? Why must destiny throw this
in front of my face, to make me drown in it?
More than anything in the world, I wanted to cry
apon Serenitys shoulder, to crush her body to mine, to
merely hold her. Yet here I stood alone, bitterly trying
not to cry, desperately trying not to think about what
would happen! Pluto, why did you have to appear? Why did
I have to see your face and what it told? Dear God, please,
please, do not let her be right! Let what she glimpsed be
a lie!
I fell to my knees, resting my head on the cold
glass like material. "I will fight," I whispered to myself.
"I will do everything I can. God, I do not care if in the
end I die, or if we win that I will be forced to make a
choice I can not make. Just do not let the future be set."
"Lookie! A big person is crying!"
I touched my face. It was wet. Indeed, silent tears
had fallen.
"Big people arent meant to cry! They gotta be
strong!"
Slowly I turned around, seating my weary body so
my back was pressed against the cold transparent metal. A
child stood in the dark corridor. No older than five or
six years old. Midnight coloured hair and bright innocent
blue eyes.
"Thats what all the big adults tell me. I have to
be strong cause I dont have any parents, Im all alone.
But Im happy! I have a new family who loves me!"
	"But you killed that family."
"You hurt the only one you loved."
	"You even murdered your horse."
I stared with wild eyes at the child in front of
me. He was smiling at me. And then he began to grow up. He
became a reflection of me. I found myself staring into my
own eyes.
"Yes, that is true. I killed many vessels of the
soul, and I made terrible decisions," the figure in front
of me said. He was kneeling in front of me, face only
inches from my own. "But I will not do it any more. No, I
fight, I will be brave and strong. I know what will happen
in this war, how it will end. But I will not cry over what
is set."
In a flash of light, wings of white and a horn of
gold appeared before me, replacing my other self, kneeling
before me. His wings towered over me, giving off a pure
white light.
	"Elios," my voice whispered.
He looked at me with his amber eyes. "This must
happen. Unfortunately, what you have guessed by Sailor
Plutos blank expression is true. But do not despair,
Prince Endymion. The peace you long for will come one day.
Listen to your inner self. Do not cry anymore, because you
do not wish to, and because you can not change what must
be. Let destiny and fate shape your future."
"How can you say such things to me?" I asked in
barley a whisper. "Do you think I do not know these things?
That in the past two years I have learnt nothing?" I felt
the old flame returning, that roar which threatened to
break free from my throat and fill the empty silence. "I
am human, Elios!" I exclaimed in a lowered voice. "I can
not help but feel what I feel. I can not help these tears
that I cry! God! You are an angel. Can not you understand,
or try to feel what emotions rage through me?" I bit my
lip. I could taste my own blood.
His amber eyes did not even wince. His emotionless
face did not show life. For one horrific moment, I doubted
he was even a living being. The illusion was finally broken
with his soft words. "I am sorry, Prince Endymion, that I
can not feel you pain. I am sorry I am not human. For that,
I must wait."
"What?" I questioned, frowning at his choice of
words.
The ageless child looked back at me with innocent
amber eyes, his cherub lips opening to reply. But no voice
ever came. And even if it did, it would have died, been
drown in the screaming sirens.
My eyes darted wildly upwards to the hidden
speakers from which the shrieking sounds emitted. The
lights flashed red, burning into my sensitive eyes. What
was this? Why were the alarms going off now? What had
happened to the unsettling silence!
Eyes partly blinded, I glanced back down. The
white haired boy was gone. My eyes narrowed and my lips
twisted into an ugly smirk. Yes, it would be like him to
disappear now. No! Endymion, save your petty emotions
towards that child for later! She matters more! Do you
want her to? No! Dont say that either!
In an instant I was up, dashing along the corridors
that seemed to close in on me for all the red lights and
maddening sounds. Those who were in their off shifts were
already up, but barely noticed the young man sprinting
past them, almost knocking them over. She flew into my
arms as soon as I appeared in the doorway of the rooms we
shared. Our hearts were beating next to each other. Yes,
she was unharmed. Her warmth flowed into my body, through
our layers of clothing. All was right, because she was in
my arms, she was well.
Moments later we were on the command bridge. My
generals and the Inner Soldiers were already there, taking
charge of the insane situation. The sirens were cut, the
emergency lights deactivated. Kunzite demanded the status
of the emergency.
"Our sensors have detected a large number of
battle ships which have just dropped out of light speed!"
one of the officers called out from her station.
"What is their identification?" Venus questioned.
"The data is coming back now," another officer
answered. There was a small gasp. "Two entire fleets. One
belonging to the Black Moon Kingdom, and the other to the
Shadow Kingdom!"
"They are hours early!" Jadeite hissed in my ear.
"How is this possible?" I asked sharply.
"The Shadow Kingdoms technology is much more
advanced than ours. It may be possible they discovered a
way to travel faster than the speed of light, or to mass
teleport entire fleets," Mercury murmured, a frown apon
her usually peaceful face.
"It doesnt matter now. We must take a course of
action which suits this scenario," Zoisite said quietly,
yet with an air of command.
"Zoisite is right," I said softly. "Open a
communications link with them now," I ordered, my voice
strong and without a tremble. I looked to the large
hologram projector situated at the near center of the
command bridge, Serenitys hand grasped tightly in my own.
Was it me who gave comfort to her in this confrontation,
or was it she that gave me the strength I so needed, who
kept me from shivering?
Those who looked apon me now. What did they see?
A young man, dressed in finery and silver armour, holding
the most beautiful women who ever graced this realm? Did
their eyes dart up to our unusual symbols? What did they
think when they saw the earth and moon interlocked, shining
apon our foreheads like fluorescent jewels? Fear. That was
all that came to mind. Not for the ones who adorned it,
but strangely for the future it would bring. Or was this
what I thought, what I believed?
With a burst of static, Prince Diamonds dominating
and cold figure appeared in the form of a semi transparent
life sized hologram. He lips formed a frigid smile directed
at me, icy blue eyes at once locking on to my deep blue
ones, glaring with unmasked hate. He took a step back and
bowed mockingly, his twisted smile widening into a hatred
filled grin.
"Prince Endymion," he drawled. "To what do I owe
this pleasure?"
Smiling damned devil. Grinning villain. He never
looked at her. He did not want her to see his eyes which
showed so clearly his despair hidden behind the hate.
Because even after she openly and clearly left him, even
after she had wounded his heart so much as to have pierced
it with an arrow, he still cared for her if not loved her.
And he could not take his frustration and anger out apon
her angelic form nor serene blue eyes. Thus he looked only
to me.
I swallowed the daemon thoughts and returned his
cold stare. "Stop your mocking tone, Diamond. You know what
will happen if you breech the Space Divider Field," I
snapped in a hard voice. "Hate me if you wish, curse the
world that gives you such pain. But do not do this!"
"Do what, Prince Endymion?" he questioned in an
unrealistic innocent voice. "Attempt to destroy what you
love and hold dear to your heart as you did to me?"
"Have you no heart, no soul, no morals!" I
demanded, pausing for an intake of a breath. His cutting
voice jumped in before I could continue.
"You say this to me!" Diamond exclaimed. "Shut your
mouth, Endymion! Rot in your Earth Hell. No, I do not have
a soul or heart! You took that away from me. So if I
succeed in destroying this precious universe, it will be
your fault!"
My face faulted as his words cut deep into me. My
fault? My fault. That so many people will die. Even his
own kingdom, his subjects. My fault that they die. Not
again, please! Shut the windows to the soul. Do not let
his mocking voice pass. Lock them tight. Hold onto the
lifeline.
Serenity. She pressed my hand which she held, and
stepped in front of my shocked body. My pillar of strength.
My guardian angel. The ray of light that shone into the
darkness and drove away the daemon thoughts. The torch
that lighted the murky waters.
"I am glad that I have left you, that I do not love
you," Serenitys voice said softly. There was no menace,
nor even regret. It was the voice of reason, of wisdom.
"For you seem now nothing more than a selfish living
creature who attacks another because he can not bare to
see the truth of his soul."
I opened my eyes with a twinge of fear to see in
my field of vision my angel looking up at the taller
figure of the Prince of the Black Moon Kingdom. Diamond
stared back down at her fragile form, mouth opening and
closing, as if he wanted to reply but could not find the
courage to answer the Princess of the Moon Kingdom. Or
perhaps he could make no reply, because everything she
said was true. And his expression changed a degree. Did
it soften or grow harder?
"It is true I hurt you, and that I was cruel to
say I loved you when in reality I did not. I was wrong to
do that, but I am only human. Yet you seek to take you
anger and revenge apon the innocent, apon your own people,"
Serenity continued. "You have no will to live. You are
selfish and a coward."
"Shut up! Enough!" Diamond roared, growled from
the depths of his blackened soul. "You dare to judge me
after what you have done. Both of you!" He face was
contorted into a mask of rage, eyes flashing. "This is war,
Serenity. Cease your small talk. You can not stop this."
"Why do you do this, Diamond? Why must you be so
angry? Why can you not be happy?" she asked, her voice
softening even more. "Because I am gone, it does not mean
you can not find joy in life. It does not mean you must
seek revenge."
Everything she said. It echoed my thoughts, what
others have said to me. Why could I not be happy? Why
could I not find joy? Why could I not be selfish? Why? Why
could I not forget about others and live? Diamond loved
Serenity. He could not bare to live without her. His pride
could not stand to see Serenity love another. So in the
end, he would rather destroy anything and everything. He
and I were too much alike. He was following my footsteps.
Well, Prince Diamond, pray you will never have to face the
choice I will soon be confronted with. Pray you will not
have to glimpse the future I know must pass. I think you
would rather die. Because that was how I felt.
A haunted expression took over his face, and his
eyes took on a wild light. "Whatever you say, Princess
Serenity," he smiled coldly. He turned towards unseen
officers aboard his command ship and issued the ordered.
"Open fire. Now."
	The transmission was terminated.
The black of the Space Divider Field and serval
ships of our fleet erupted into fire as all hell broke
loose. The entire fire power of the Black Moon and Shadow
Fleet was set loose apon us. Alarms once again shrieked
through the command ship as the shields were splattered
with power lazars and energy beams. Kunzite shouted for all
the noise and lights to be cut just as my Mother and Queen
Selenity arrived on the bridge, followed closely by Nick
and Dawn.
"Return fire, and give orders for the fighter
squadrons to dispatch and attack!" Kunzite commanded,
voice loud and strong, yet clam in the frenzy.
"The second Dark Dragon fleet arrives in three
hours," Mercury calculated quickly. "I do not think this
fleet has the power to stand up against them until then.
Fortunately, they also do not have the fire power to breech
the Space Divider Field."
"But that means sooner or later, they will turn
all that energy onto us," Venus muttered.
"General Kunzite!" one of the officers called out.
"Our sensors have picked up the presence of two of the
Outer Soldiers! They are in the line of fire, and standing
up to the weaponry systems of the two opposing fleets!
They are attempting to shield the Spare Divider Field!"
"Thats it!" Venus cried. "As long as they can not
discover the fact that they can not breech the filed
itself, they will not bother to attack us. We must defend
the field until our fleets arrive so we can attack them
directly! Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Sailor Teleport now!
Lets go and help them, girl friends!" With a wink and a
kiss blown to Kunzite, the Solider of Love and Beauty
vanished in a streak of golden fire along with the other
three Inner Soldiers.
"Wait!" Kunzite called out, fear for the first
time hear in his voice. But it was too late. They were
already gone. "Damn it! If the Shadow Kingdom has the
weapon they used against us on the planet Tranquillity,
we will be no match against them! Prince Endymion, I
request for your permission to assist the Soldiers!"
I nodded, knowing that my generals could not stand
by while the ones they loved fought and risked their lives
to protect their Princess. In a daze, I watch them
teleport, and then I sank down onto the cold metal deck of
the command bridge. My vision merged with black, and my
body threatened to surrender into the darkness. Was
Diamonds alliance with the Sun Kingdom my fault? Was
Swords fall also my fault? The child within me laughed.
Of course it is your fault, Silly! More laughter.
But it was too innocent. He did not understand the power
his words bore.
"With each passing moment, I seem to find that I
am more and more what will destroy this universe. Still I
ask, why me? Why has fate passed all this to me?" I
whispered softly under my breath. But it seemed not my
voice. It sounded as if it was on the borderline of
insanity.
A butterfly kissed me on the check. Its soft velvet
wings brushed my eyelids. "It is not your fault. Each
person if responsible for their own actions, no matter
what has happened to them in the past. Now be strong. Your
friends need you. I need you," Serenity whispered into my
ear.
I looked up into her ever hopeful and serene sky
blue eyes and gave her a weak smile. "If I can not live
for myself, I must live for you and everyone else. I find,
the more I live, that one such as I has no real power. It
seems that duty commands all. And my only real happiness
is being with you."
Her face frowned. "That may be true, Endymion, but
do not look on it as a punishment. Be proud of what you
are. It is the only way you can every be content with what
you are."
I did not reply. Had I said anything, it would have
only hurt her more. For I could not accept what she said.
I think I hated myself. I hated my life. So I stood up,
masking my thoughts, and smiled at her and our mothers,
and took command of the fleet.
"Give me an update on my generals and the Soldiers!"
I called out, turning to the large monitor. At once, the
blank screen flickered to life with a live up link to the
battle front. All at well, if one could say that about a
battle. The Shadow Kingdom had not yet initiated their
weapon which could absorb our magic, and for the time
being, we were holding them back easily enough. The four
generals combined their powers to form a force field to
protect themselves and the Soldiers, whilst at the same
time blocked any incoming fire that was aimed at the Space
Divider Field. The Soldiers themselves used their magical
attack to destroy the smaller fighters and to weaken the
massive battle cruisers and to take out the weaponry
systems.
I stared at the slow progress of the generals and
the Soldiers. Serenity stood beside me, hands held up and
together, as if in prayer. A reassuring hand was placed
gently on my shoulders as Nick came up beside me. I barely
acknowledged him. My mind was wondering, fearful. The
Shadow Kingdom had not activated any of their weapons as
of yet. What were they waiting for?
"What is the status of our star fighters?" I
demanded without looking away from the monitor. Still the
generals' force field was up and strong. Still Mars sent
flaming arrows one after the other flying towards the huge
ships which kept their distance. Jupiters electric attacks
took out the deflector shields off many of the battle
cruisers, and Mercurys ice and water powers froze up the
smaller fighters whilst Venus just tore huge gapping holes
into the hulls of the ships.
"We are out numbered, sir! Were slowly losing
numbers," an officer reported back.
"Call them back. There is no reason to lose
unnecessary lives," I answered. "Keep the main guns on the
battle cruisers of the two opposing fleets. Well do what
damage we can from here."
The officer made no reply but quickly executed
the orders.
But no sooner had I issued the order, all fire and
activity ceased from our opponents. A deadly clam fell,
and on the main monitor, even from a distance, the
confusion and shock was easily seen on the generals and
Soldiers faces. Cautiously they lowered their weapons and
their shield, for it was a waste of their energy to keep
them powered up.
"The calm before the storm," Dawn said softly.
	The storm hit.
In the blink of an eye, in a flash of lightning,
four human figures appeared in the emptiness of space,
facing my generals and the Soldiers. Behind them a
monstrous creation of man. And perched on its shoulder
was Sword.
"Who in Hell are those two?" Nick exclaimed,
snapping me out of my daze.
I looked, redirecting my gaze to the four figures
that stood before the generals and Soldiers. Two I at once
reconsigned as Diamond an Sapphire. The others? They were
both female, and possessed beauty that could make any
unsuspecting male fall at their feet.
"Ruby and Emerald," Serenity answered in an almost
unheard whisper. "The sisters of Diamond and Sapphire.
Together, the four from a formidable foe."
"So this is why they have not used the Shadow
Kingdoms weapons against us until now. They wanted to
weaken our defence first," I said darkly as I watched the
stand off.
"What a dirty trick," Nick commented in a disgusted
voice.
"They will not be able to stand up to the Black
Moon Family with Swords machine as backup," Serenity said
quietly, fear seeping into her voice.
"We must help them then," I said, and took Serenitys
hand in mine. "Nick, take over my command," I said to my
best friend, and then grinned. "Now, dont lose this war
for me, okay?"
Nick just glared at me, but then pulled me to him
and embraced me. "Now, dont you come back dead," he
whispered in my ear so that no one else heard.
	I smiled and nodded.
	The Black Moon Family attacked.
Serenity and I summoned our power to teleport.
	Time stopped.
