Taboo: Why Steve Sailer and Jon Entine Don't Want to Talk About It

You may remember Jon Entine came about with the book , "Taboo: Why black athletes dominate sports and why we're afraid to talk about it." It first came out in 1999, and Steve Sailer helped Jon write that book for years. In the book, they talk about the genetic superiority of black athletes that are so exceptional that whites are at a considerable disadvantage in sports, and Asians (being genetically limited to small statures and flexibility sports by their pseudo-scientific theory) will never be able to realistically compete with blacks in masculine sports like running, basketball, and football.

In general terms, blacks are more likely to enter and succeed in sports than whites and Asians; this we are not refuting. However, Steve Sailer and Jon Entine base their pseudo-science on media stereotypes. They talk about genetic superiority of blacks, that whites and Asians can't compete with blacks. They are condescending toward Asians, like a comical stereotype, and believe blacks are uncivilized animals who are mentally inferior and only suitable for athletics. They judge the races, and are proven wrong to the whole world. Their twisted theories on race and genetics have been shot dead so many times, and yet they are not held accountable for their fallacies.

Now is the time to analyze and hold them accountable.

Some of their theories.

  • The NBA was 85 percent black in 1997. The genetic superiority of blacks of Western African descent in short-distance running and jumping and the trend of the increasing percentage of black NBA players from 1950 to 1997 will cause the percentage to increase, eventually phasing out white players. Asians who were genetically limited and were not on the NBA roster in 1997 will have no chance of making it into the NBA.

  • Eastern Africans, particularly Kenyans, are genetically dominant in long-distance running. Witness the 13 times since 1980 Kenya has won the Boston Marathon.

  • Whites are less athletic than blacks, and Asians are genetically limited to bodies of small sizes and weaker statures.

  • "The exploits of other East Asian superstars, such as Japan's Ichiro Suzuki and Kazuhiro Sasaki of the Seattle Mariners, are already the stuff of legend, but don't expect this trickle to become a flood -- the body type limitations are just too severe a handicap."
Quote by Jon Entine, May 23, 2002

Some things which have happened in the sports world since Taboo was written.

2000 Summer Olympics:

  • "The gold medal in track's 800 meters, the race where the twain of speed and stamina most vividly meet, went to the Germany's Nils Schumann, who succeeded the very pale Atlanta champion, Vebjorn Rodal of Norway. The 200-meter sprint that was supposed to be a showdown between Michael Johnson and Maurice Greene ended up being dominated by Greece's Konstantinos Kenteris. The triple jump, an ultimate test of nimbleness and springiness, was handily won by graying white guy Jonathan Edwards of Britain. And the women's 5000 meters, which, according to Entine, should be dominated by athletes from Africa's Rift Valley, turned out to be a duel between Gabriela Szabo of Romania and Sonia O'Sullivan of Norway."

  • China did win a gold medal in the women's super heavy-weight weightlifting competition (the largest class). South Korea came close to winning a medal, coming in at fifth place, in the men's super heavy-weight weightlifting. Japan and Korea won medals in baseball and long-distance running.

  • The Dream Team, a team of all-star NBA basketball players of Western African descent Jon and Steve so glamorize, almost lost the gold medal to a team of all-white Lithuanian players, beating them in the end by only 2 points?! In the final game, the Dream Team beats France by an unimpressive 8 points to barely win the gold medal.

Basketball:

  • In the NBA, a sudden explosion of talented white players from Europe who can jump are filling up NBA roster spots, causing the black percentage of NBA players to decline.

  • In 2002, the 7'6" Yao Ming from China (a size Steve and Jon thought was genetically impossible for East Asians to attain), was selected number one overall in the NBA draft and showed to the world he can succeed in the NBA. There are 4 Chinese 7-footer basketball players in the 2003 NBA roster, and dozens more younger players in China and Korea will be entering the NBA, further reducing the black player percentage in the NBA and discrediting the Sailer/Entine theorem.

  • In the 2002 World Basketball championship game, Team USA consisting of above-average NBA players, mostly black and few white, lost to Argentina, then to Yugoslavia. Nigeria, a large and wealthier country in the heart of West Africa, does mediocre at best in international basketball games, often losing out to white teams from Europe. Other African countries fare even worse than Nigeria, while China and South Korea are improving.

More Sports:

  1. In 2001, Lee Bong-Ju from South Korea won the Boston Marathon. Since 1980, Kenya did win the Boston marathon 13 times; however, it's because the Kenyan winners were the same winners who won multiple times, so there were 8 unique Kenyan athletes who won since 1980. Asians (all unique athletes from Japan or Korea) won the Boston Marathon 3 times since 1980. An 8 to 3 comparison does not signify a staggering genetic superiority Steve and Jon would like to portray.

  2. After the success of Asian baseball superstars with size, strength, and skill, specifically Ichiro Suzuki (5'9"), Hideki Matsui (6'2"), Hideo Nomo (6'2"), Ishii (6'2"), Sasaki (6'4"), Chan-Ho Park (6'2"), Major League Baseball recruiting scouts are flooding to Japan and South Korea looking for and finding star players. In 2003, there were over 20 Asian baseball players on the MLB roster, and that number is expected to grow.

Who is this Jon Entine that writes so scientifically and professionally on race, genetics, and sports, yet proved to the world he doesn't know squat about this subject? Like Steve Sailer, Jon Entine is not a professional doctor, scientist, or anthropologist in the field of race or genetics. Jon is a communications major and a journalist. For someone who has held high positions at NBC and ABC, his racial research is primarily based on media stereotypes. Because he has connections with the media, he can publicize his biased works easily. The only skill Jon and Steve possess is their eloquent writing skills, so they can fool the public into believing they are scientists.

In conclusion, Jon Entine has a lot to explain about their theories on race and sports. A book based on sensationalized stereotypes rather than credible science, it won't be long before Jon and Steve will have to write another book, "Taboo II: Why Entine and Sailer are morons, and why they are afraid to talk about it."
