| What is SAI? Sigma Alpha Iota, International Music Fraternity, is a Greek music fraternity for women. Found at the University School of Music at Ann Arbor, Michigan, it is an organization whose purposes are to foster interest in music and to promote social contact among persons sharing an interest in music. It is a specialized Fraternity which confines its membership to persons interested in the single academic discipline- music-in accredited colleges and universities. | Sigma Alpha Iota uses the soft "i" for the last word in its name in order to produce a more musical and euphonious name. Its colors are crimson and white, and its flower is the red rose. | ||||||||||||

| College students must fulfill the following membership requirements Achieve a cumulative GPA between 2.5 and 2.9. Individual chapters may require a higher GPA. Demonstrate a sincere interest in music, including those who major or minor in music. Complete one or more semesters, including one or more music courses. Meet local Member-In-Training requirements. Pass the national membership test. Meet the financial obligations. |

| Non-student members are women musicians not enrolled in a formal music curriculum. They must be trained sufficently to earn a living in a music profession and be active in that profession. The non-student member must be approved by the SAI National President in consultation with the Province Officer. The non-student member automatically assumes alumnae status at the end of the fraternity year in which she is initiated. | ||||||||||||
