SENIOR SCHOOL

Aitchison College is founded on a close partnership between staff, parents and pupils to promote the strength of family life, foster responsibility, and balance the claims of developing individuality with the needs of a vibrant community. To make this ideal a living and working reality, the College cares for its pupils in houses - currently fifteen of them: 3 for boarders, 12 for day boys. The Housemaster supported by assistant housemasters/housemistresses is therefore a crucial figure, giving sound advice when necessary and encouraging pupils to a rich and varied life at Aitchison.

The College encourages pupils from diverse cultural, rural and religious backgrounds who can bring the social and linguistic diversity that are the hallmark of the College. A declared objective of the College is to promote and to foster national development. At Senior School we offer schooling to a pupil from the age of 14 to 17+ years.

Our aim in the classroom is to enthuse and inspire pupils from across the ability range. The curriculum at Aitchison College is based on the Cambridge University Syndicate Ordinary 'O' and 'A' levels. Aitchison College is accredited by the University of Cambridge, and prepares its students for the University of Cambridge International (CIE) examinations. The curriculum is designed as a comprehensive teaching-learning the classroom.

The aim of the curriculum is not only to act within the requirements of the syllabi, as laid down by the relevant CIE examination, but to offer more to the pupils.

Considerable attention is paid to the moral, intellectual, and character development of each boy. Qualities of enthusiasm and initiative, high standards of morality, decorum and discipline are regularly emphasized. Individual effort is rewarded and team work is encouraged at all levels within the College. Independence and interdependence are valued norms.
