Poem Topic:  A Dream

A Dream Come True

A Dream Come True
So
So you think you can tell
Heaven from
Hot air with a cool breeze
Idle mind never turned the tease
A routine
Pretend circle of friends
Like a day at the track
Fancy look's names
Mostly losers
It might have been fun for the
First few hours
Mostly losers
Then it’s round and round
Same ole
Losers
But ya keep putt's money down
Hope's the Triple Crown
Then we would watch the day
Go round and round
Still put money down
Dreaming of that Triple Crown
Days, nights alike
Mostly losers

So one day the race stopped
And our handsome prince
Strode of into the sunset
Never to be seen again

But there was life
Outside the track
But the prince still dreamed
Of a beautiful Triple Crown

So he danced
Ate, drank, and was merry
And all the while
He knew, never to lay it down
‘till a winner kept her ground

On the first day
There was no sound
Nor illusions to be found

And the next
Said to be the best
Put their fears to rest
For that night
Thought it just might

The next few
Leaves something to be said
About these two
All I knew
They were happy in bed

on the sixth
the sixth
there came a sixth
and so
so
you think you can tell
gray skies
from the sun who rises
in those eyes
these arms that wrap you
like birds in the sky
do you think you can tell how
these eyes never lie

with out testimony
to size
rockets glare
while I stare

broken hearts and tears
would fall from the air

this pain
without you
to see a man cry
rise above ability

so
so you think you can tell
cold steel rail
has not stopped
haunting

could she be
in the shed
out back
dead
of lack

picket door
torn and shingled on the roof
these lonely fingers pry
gore
was nothing but a memory
but at least I have that

Snap that dream was too real

Walk away
And the cold air grows
Where I go
Invites my friend
To kill them

But a memory
At least I have that
And
And
Dream
Scary
Have memory
Daisies and naked toes
No
Not
Pushing up
Can’t be dead

The haunting continues
At least I have the memory
Of when you were here
And how I loved you
Wish you were near
Not in that green field
Not with that vale
I wish I could tell
You how I walked
My life
With you in my world

I love you but you scare me
You walk in mist
Form around the house
Put things where they don’t go
Make noises in the middle of the night
Now your sight is of gray and dusty bones
At daylight

And I’m afraid
Green and yellow
Ribbons
Chase me
After I’ve moved on

Cactus needles
Hunt me
Ceilings cave in on me
Holes in walls suck bodies
Into hell

Yet you haunt me with your absence
Still
Haunt me
After all these years

I sit with your memory
And pray
For your soul to be with mine
I pray your hand
Will once again
Touch
And hold mine
I pray your heart
Will once again
Beat beside mine
I pray that once again
You will look into my eyes
To tell me
You are still mine

So
So you think you can tell
Heaven from hell
Can you tell
A torn leaf love
From the graceful flight
Of a fall's lonesome dove

And on the seventh day
When the world moved again

There she was
More spectacular than the stars
And Sun rise itself

She stood there waiting
For him
With a beam in her eye
To make all men wonder
How not to be by her side

So our fair prince
Took her by the hand
And placed one knee
To the ground
Slid the glorious thing
On the finger of the Triple Crown

And they lived happily ever after
