Krakatau, Indonesia

Many people have heard of “the shot heard ‘round the world”, but the volcano, Krakatau, was heard in a far more greater range. Krakatau is on the volcanic island pulau Rakata, between Java and Sumatra, Indonesia in the Sundra straight. Singapore, (514 mi away) and Jakarta (114 mi away) are too of the closest cities near Krakatau. CONCLUSION SENTENCE.

KABOOM! An ash cloud rose 50 mi. high, leaving the region plunged into darkness for 2 1/2 days. People as far away as people in Australia heard the great bang. And the pumice near the volcano became so thick, no ships could get through. This eruption caused a series of tsunami that moved as far as South America and Hawaii and killed 36,000 people in Java and Sumatra. The animal life and plant life had not been reestablished until 5 years later. This was Krakatau’s most destructive and the loudest eruption in history. However, many events led up to this eruption.
