"Gayathri Manthra should be chanted 3 times a day - 4 to 8 AM, 4 to 8 PM are Sattvik times. 8AM to 4PM is Rajsik. 8PM to 4AM is Tamasik.

The best time to chant Gayathri is around 6AM, 12 Noon and 6PM. Goddess Gaythri confers the boon of Intelligence as Gayathri, Protection as Savithri and Learning as Saraswathi. Gayathri is therefore called Sarvadevata Swarupini.

By chanting at least twice a day - morning and evening - the sin committed unknowingly that day are destroyed and left over Karma is burnt. The person gets closer and closer to Divinity.

Chant the Mantra 3 times when you are having a bath - it will serve the dual purpose of chanting as well as performing Abisheka to the Mantra. Chant 3 times before eating - you would have not only purified the food, but also offered the food to the Mantra. If you do it everyday, you need not chant any other Mantra. It protects you from calamities and confers upon you intelligence, learning and success.

Just as the sun dispels darkness, it drives out the
ignorance, indolence and sloth in you. It will aid in
developing Prajnana, Sujnana and Vijnana. I WISH that you chant Gayathri at least 2 times a day during your lifetime."

Radio Sai Global Harmony

Source : "The Hindu" Newspaper

PUTTAPARTHI, NOV. 23. To spread the message of peace from Sri Satya Sai Baba, the World Space Organisation, USA, has launched a digital audio satellite communication system - "Radio Sai Global Harmony" here on Friday. The digital radio network will broadcast the gospel of Sri Sai Baba in all the main languages of the world round the clock.

The radio network was launched by Sri Sai Baba by pressing a switch. The broadcast of the new radio station began with the playing back of signature music. Later, a song in Telugu sung by the students of Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Learning greeting Sai Baba on his birthday was played back.

Dr. Michael Nobel, son of the legendary Alfred Nobel and the Chairman of the governing body of the Board of Nobel Societies, one of the patrons of the radio network, said the World Space Organisation already had two satellites - Asiasat and Africastar covering about 4 billion population. A launch of another satellite soon would cover the population in America.

He said the radio network would spread the message of Sai Baba all over the world and propagate global harmony and peace. Mr. V. Srinivasan, the former president of Confederation of Indian Industry and another patron of the radio network, also spoke.

Talk by Bozzanis

Fwded from : B. Kasturi

Sai Ram!  Recently, the Bozzanis, long time devotees of Swami and leaders in our region, had a discussion with the Young Adults.  The following is a summary for their talk.

On Sunday, Oct 28, nine young adults had the pleasure of listening to Mr. and Mrs. Bozzani as they shared their experiences and interpretations of Swami's teachings at the Tustin Sathya Sai Book Center. Adding to the blissful atmosphere were the room's vibrations from weekly chanting of 108 Gayathri. With Swami's voice playing faintly in the background (Sai Baba, Embodiment of Love CD), we listened attentively to our guest speakers.

Mrs. Bozzani began by explaining how she prefers to let Swami choose the stories to share and speak through her on occasions like this. No matter how much we prepare something, in the end, Swami's words come through. And so they did. As questions popped up in our minds, many of them were immediately answered through the stories that were shared.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Bozzani continued on to cover the following topics: Discipline, practicing Swami's teachings, and balance of law and love. On discipline, Mr. Bozzani shared a funny experience of his on how significant it is to be mindful of our thoughts. On a visit to Prashanti Nilyam, Mr. Bozzani had the delight of going on a scenic drive with Swami. As they were driving, he began to think, "This is so beautiful. When Barbara passes away, I'll definitely move here and stay here." Just as he thought this, he felt a sharp swat on the back of his ear. Swami had just snapped His handkerchief on Mr. Bozzani's ear and he knew exactly why! As Mrs. Bozzani heard the story being narrated again, she turned to Swami's picture and sweetly said, "Thank you, Swami!".

On discipline of attire, both our speakers had experiences with Swami where they appeared in attire other than what Swami had expected.  At a Sai function in Bangalore, Swami looked at Mr. Bozzani up and down,to make it very clear that it is very important what you choose to wear.  On another occasion, the Bozzanis were in Ooty when Swami gave Mrs. Bozzani a saree. However, Mrs. Bozzani did not wear it the next day, which displeased Swami.  The lesson that she learned was that whatever God gives us we must always appreciate the gift as everything He gives is His grace, and is always ?good for us.?  Our speakers expressed that even when we are here in the US, it is very important to wear respectable attire especially in public meetings such as the First Sunday meetings at Ebell.  Also, the boys should make every effort to wear white at all Sai events as it symbolizes discipline and purity. Swami's expectations of His
devotees in Puttaparthi sets a standard for how we should behave here. Otherwise, we are saying that Swami is wasting His time with the guidelines in Parthi.
On practicing Swami's teachings, Mr. Bozzani stated
how all the teachings come down to the basics such as
"Love all, Serve all" and "Help ever, Hurt never". In
an interview, Swami explained how all He wants is love
from us. But then Swami went on further to say that He also wanted gratitude. Not through thank you letters
or saying thank you. But through practice of His
teachings. To choose at minimum one teaching of His
and put it into practice in this lifetime is showing
gratitude. Mrs. Bozzani also shared a story from
Kodaikanal when they were guests in Swami's home
there. In the morning, Swami peeked out of the curtain
at the devotees waiting for darshan and said, "Look at
that. I cannot waste my power on them if they don't
practice my teachings!". Mrs. Bozzani shared with us
the power and energy she felt as Swami said these
words. She still remembers how overwhelmed she felt.
Lastly, Mr. Bozzani talked about how critical it is to
balance law with love. On one occasion, Mr. Bozzani
had taken some concerns about his son to Swami.  Swami proceeded to ask Mr. Bozzani what he was doing when he was his son's age and to be understanding. Mr. Bozzani also went on to address some of our questions by saying that we should never disobey our parents or elders. But it is possible to have open discussions and open our hearts and their hearts with love. "Duty without love is deplorable. Duty with love is desirable. Love without duty is divine!".

We ended our session with 2 songs and many thank yous to our speakers for taking the time out of their busy schedule to spend with us. They were our guest
speakers and yet they played host to us at the book
center welcoming us there and providing us with
refreshments at the end. Our thanks to Vasanthi Hegde
and Bob Daniele also for helping us setup, providing
the refreshments, and answering our endless questions!
The young adults that attended were very appreciative
including one who attended on her birthday. What a
beautiful birthday present from Swami! We hope that we can have the opportunity of having both Mr. and Mrs. Bozzani speak to us again!

Jai Sai Ram!
Anil Kumar Talk

From:   Tarun Chudasama

Yesterday wish you were all there when Anilkumar shared his personal experience with all of us at Dharmakshetra.  It was filled with crackers and he continued his monologue for over an hour enthralling each one of us.

He began his talk with an old Sai Bhajan " Sathguru Nathanee Vaa  Vaa Vaa, Satchithanandane Vaa Vaa Vaa...."  While singing he was as if powered with a Sai turbo engine and started the Bhajan directly in the second speed. He was so excited while singing that he demanded the "Dafli" from us started playing while rendering Bhajan.

He said that he was born in Guntur which is almost like a furnace during summer and to cool down, they ate "green hot chillies" !  He was born to a Bhramo Samajist.  His great grand father was a Bhramo missionary in Calcutta and his father too was a staunch "Bramho" who never believed in rituals and idol worship.

His mother is the first Andhra lady to come out from the college and that too with a gold medal.  Because in those days girls were not sent out to schools and colleges.  If they did, they were ostracised from the community. All his brothers along with him were the most eligible bachelors, because"Bramhos" did not believe in dowry !

His wife was born in a devout hindu family and would attend the temples regularly.  However Anilkumar never went to any temples being a staunch Bhramho. He had  hired a rickshaw for her to go to the temples.  They would both go in the same rickshaw.  His wife would go to the temple and he would stand outside the temple for temple visit was forbidden to Bhramos. Then his wife fell sick in 1970s. All the 13 doctors whom he met advised them to undergo surgery for a growth found in her stomach.  That was the end to all the delicious chilly food.  She was only allowed to take curd rice.

Soon after she came back from the hospital while returning from the temple one day, they heard a Bhajan and they both visited the place.  It was a Sai Bhajan and after returning home, Anil Kumar says "my plight was that of Dasharata confronted by Kaikeyi".  She said if you want me to be alive, you must take me to "Puttaparthi' " He agreed on two condition that she will never force him to come inside the Asharam premises and the second was that they will return after one week.  And so they both went to Puttaparthi.  She would go inside and Anilkumar with his two children would be roaming around outside the Ashram premises.  After 3-4 days he was curious to see what was happening inside so he came and stood outside the gate to have a peep of what was going on.

It seems Swami came directly to him and just looked at him, he also stood and stared back without offering pranaams.  Then he saw Swami was distributing Ladoo prasadam to the workers who were then building the Poornachandra Auditorium.  That's the time he saw the first miracle.  He saw plate with Ladoos appearing in his hand and mysteriously disappeared after distribution of the Ladoos.  He wished Swamy gave ladoos to his children but then that did not happen. Since he was a voracious reader, he bought Sathya Sai Speaks volume 1 and went back home.  When he started reading, he found that it was all the Bhramha Samaj principle, the Sarvadharma and the Universal fatherhood of God and Love etc..  He soon went back and bought the rest of the volumes.

Next day Swami again came near him.  This time his hands and legs were shivering He offered his pranaams and Swami gave a nod and left immediately. It seems Swami did not talk or acknowledge his(Anilkumar's) presence for nearly seven years.  He said it was like university exams. Appear for exams, if you fail appear again in September and even that failed again reappear in April and this went on with him for nearly seven years!

Because he loved debates and lectures, he would always snatch the available opportunity and speak.  Once he was invited to speak on Sriram.  Most of the other speakers were eminent scholarly persons.  "So amongst the list of eminent professors of literature and philososphy, there was my name in between Mr. Anilkumar without any titles!"  When he saw the invitation he rang them up to say that want to be "dropped"  as he did not fit himself to be the right person amongst those scholarly people.  The organisers turned down his request saying that they have already printed and posted the invitations to everyone.

So just like the way he would prepare for the lectures, he would sit with Swami's "Ramakatharasa Vahini" and prepared himself which turned out to be the best.  The following month he heard that Swami was in Hindupur and so he took a bus to go there.  On his way to Hindupur, he saw Swami's red car going towards Ananthpur.  He alighted from the Bus and took another Bus towards Ananthpur.  He says being from a Co-ed school and college I did not know at that time that, at Ananthpur Girl's college no males were allowed, not even a male mosquito!!  And without knowing this he barged into the campus where he was duly stopped by the watchman and was asked to stand out.

But Anilkumar wouldn't give up he requested the watchman, that all that he wanted was a mere glimpse of  Swami. At last the watchman told him.  "OK keep your luggage here and you may go up to the tree, that's all..not even an inch further".  After keeping his luggage he went near the tree to have a closer peep.  He was not aware that there was a meeting of all central trust members going on there comprising of  Dr. Goldstein, Mr. Craxy, Mr. Subba Rao, Mr. Gokak etc. etc.  Then after sometime, he saw swami coming out of the complex and he waved out  "Hey Anilkumar Come here".  Anilkumar it seems thought that Swami was calling the watchman.  And Anilkumar asked the watchman, what's your name. He replied his name was "Chellaiya". Then Swami again called, "Hey Gunturkara  Anilkumar, ikada raa" (hey Gunturman Anilkumar come here) And so Anilkumar was called by Swami for the first time and was introduced to other trust members. "This is Prof. Anil kumar.  A good Botany teacher, He also conducts special classes for aspiring medical students and all his students have become Doctors.  He is also a good aurator and recently enthralled a jam packed audience with Raamkatha !!"

Anilkumar says I was flabbergasted beyond words to see my bio data coming out from the Lord. After the lengthy introduction, Swami created Vibuti and said this is for your wife who is sick and not for you!!. Anilkumar was wondering Where was Swami all these years ?"  Then Swami told Anilkumar that you will speak on Dassera Day. And he spoke.  Next day when he came out for Darshan, Swamy told him to go and sit in the veranda, "Which was then heavily guarded by huge sized Delhi Sevadals"  Swami came closer to him at the veranda later and put an
envelope into his pocket and Swami said stitch a pair of pants and shirt and this money
includes the stitching charges as well.  Come for the birthday wearing the new clothes.  Then it seems Anilkumar told Swami that his birthday was over. Then Swami told him, "for my birthday"!!  And ever since I have been asked to speak and translate on many occasions.
TALK little; talk sweetly; talk only when there is  pressing need; talk only to those to whom you must; do not shout or raise your voice, in anger or excitement. Such control will improve health and mental peace.

It will lead to better public relations and less involvement in contacts and conflicts with others. You may be laughed at as a kill joy but there are compensations enough for you. It will conserve your tie and energy; you can put your inner energy to better use. You may take My special Birthday Message for you: Control your taste. Control your talk.

INDIA NEEDS PEOPLE LIKE BABA : GERMAN LEADER

(Article in The Times of India dated 1 Nov., 2001)

BANGALORE : While the German Chancellor was busy with Bangalore's IT skippers on Tuesday, a senior colleague of his had a rather different agenda.  Breaking off from the rest of the delegation, Dr. Friedbert Pfluger, MP. Chairman - Committee on the Affairs of the European Union and Deputy Chairman of the CDU in Lower Saxony - took time off to visit
the ashram of Sri Sathya Sai Baba at Puttaparthy.

"I had heard a lot about Baba from a close friend of my wife and I wanted to meet him." He told the Times of India after his return from Puttaparthy.  Dr. Pfluger described his visit to Puttaparthy an amazing discovery.  "I did not know  about the charitable super speciality hospital there or for that matter about the university.  It was very impressive" he said.

Dr. Pfluger spent over an hour with Baba and believes he will carry back the memory for a long time.  "It was a bit strange in the beginning.  I found his attire a bit different," he laughs, "but he got talking and the more he talked the more I was impressed."

The German leader was most impressed with the social work and lifestyle Baba maintains.  "Education and clean water he has provided to the people in the villages around is remarkable," he said.  "I found he leads a simple life and sets an example rather than just preach" he added,  Dr. Pfluger found Baba's concept that it is not enough to live just for oneself but to serve the needy very relevant.  "He says it is important that you show others that you love them."

"He said, what guides me is patience, perseverance and purity.  He has enormous inner strength and I could see this," Dr. Pfluger said.  So what is the impression he carried back?  "He dispels the darkness of poverty and illiteracy.  I am convinced India needs people like Baba" he asserts.  "I appreciate his teaching that it is not exactly any particular religion.  As Baba says it is meant to make a Hindu and better Hindu and a Christian a better Christian."

The three-hour drive was memorable in the end?  "Of course," he gushes, "including the roads and drivers without headlights," he laughs.  "A German driver would die trying to drive on these roads" he says, throwing up his hands.

Dr Friedbert  Pfluger, just 46, is tipped to take over as Chancellor one day.  He is clear about his views on India.  "India with its different cultures is the greatest democracy in the world.  This is something my country and indeed all of Europe understand," he says.  "India with its diverse people is more than a country, it is a continent."

What will be his Indo-German agenda?  "There is a lot of potential here.  We look too much towards China, it is time we take a closer look at India."

SYAN Birthday Issue

Depression is isolation, that is, separation from God. How could a man, filled with the Love of God, aware of God's presence 24 hours a day, living his life in harmony with God, ever get depressed? Depression results from ignorance and the lack of awakening or any desire to find the Truth or to find God Himself. Such people can be helped through others who can enlighten them. It is this isolation from God that is man's greatst problem and it results from years of separation.

Let My Messages spread to every corner of the earth. In the end Truth will prevail and Peace and Harmony will return to the world. It will take time, since man has freewill and God will not take away that gift, which is balanced by the Love which the Lord pours out and showers upon you, regardless of the state of your soul. You have love, you have freedom, you have everything and you alone can make the choice of which path to
follow.

It is like a maze: some confusion, some false starts, sudden dead ends and new beginnings. There is only one path that leads out of the maze, the path back to God. For some, it may take aeons of time before they
see the Light, always there to guide them along the right path. Yes, My children, you are in a maze and you  must find your way out. The Lord Himself waits for you and when you arrive, He will take you into His arms and you will merge with Him for ever more.
