7 Oct 2007: We are currently looking for friendly matches for Men's Doubles (Division D-E). If you would like to play against us, please feel free to contact Kenneth on 9017-7089 or 2882-1092. To keep the match fairly simple, we are only looking for 3-4 pairs from each side, and play in a format similar to HKBA's Men's Doubles League. We don't mind travelling if you have courts available (Hopefully not too far away from Hong Kong East). If you could come to Hong Kong East, we have set aside courts in Nov 07 and early Dec 07 for friendly matches. It would be v. difficult for us to secure courts after that. 15 Jun 2007: Congratulations to Steven Leung, John Vogelsang, Henry Tseung, Lorenz Yeung, Felix, Thomas Ip, Lai Y.M., Au Yiu Kwok and Eric for winning the 2007 HKBA Men's Double League Beginners' Division. 7 Jan 2004: We won our first match in 2004 BOC Men's Double League. We played against "Lik Hang" and won by 8 games to 1. Results are: 1) Wong Kam Wing & Kinson Ip 21:18(win) 21:5(win) 21:4(win) 2) Raymond Fan & Danny Lo 20:23(loss) 21:11(win) 21:9(win) 3) Chan Tao Ho & Ng Chi Ching 21:16(win) 21:13(win) 21:7 (win) Well done team. Our next match will take place on 11 Jan 04 (Sun). Our 2003 top-ten-comers awards are as follows: 1) Mr. To (gift: Badminton racket and 2004 membership) 2) Peter Man (gift: Badminton racket and 2004 membership) 3) Mirandar (gift: A bottle of decent red wine and 2004 membership) 4) Simon Au-Yeung (gift: one dozen RSL badminton shuttles) 5) Andy Ng (gift: one dozen RSL badminton shuttles) 6) Benny Wong (gift: one dozen RSL badminton shuttles) 7) Ng Chi Ching (gift: one dozen RSL badminton shuttles) 8) Cammy (gift: one dozen RSL badminton shuttles) 9) Jody (gift: one dozen RSL badminton shuttles) 10) John Wai (gift: one dozen RSL badminton shuttles) 20 Oct 2003: Please be noted that we will only have 2 courts for normal playing this coming Saturday 25 Oct 2003, because we have reserved one court for a celebrity match between "Mrs. Fan & son" Vs "Chan Po Chu & son". Those who don't mind sharing two courts with many people are encouraged to come. You can be a pure spectator of course. Depending on circumstances, we may restrict access to members only. For the Hong Kong Badminton Open finals on 2 Nov 03 (1:30pm), I still have one ticket left ($90). If you want to buy that ticket please let me know (9017-7089). As explained in my our last mail, we have a spare court on 2 Nov 2003 (Sunday) from 3pm to 6pm at CHAI WAN IGH. Since nobody indicates an interest in paying for that court, we will open it free of charge to all members. The only requirement is that you will need to come this Saturday to get the tickets and work out the shuttles sharing arrangement among other interested members (we will not supply shuttles this time). Thanks. 19 Aug 2003: In the President's Cup match last Saturday, we lost to some quick and skillful teenagers by 3:0. On a more cheerful note, our voluntary coach, Mr. Chan, came first in the Sai Kung District men's singles competition (age group 55+). He will continue his quest for the Eastern District men's single title on 24 Aug. Simon Au-Yeung and Mr. Chan also successfully got through to the quarter finals in the Eastern District Men's Doubles competition (age group 35-44). They will be facing some very tough opponents this Sunday. Let's wish them luck. Our next team match will be on 2 Nov 2003 against a team from Heng Fa Chuen. 12 Aug 2003: It's time to report match results again. In our match against Union last Saturday, we won ...... many games, but lost even more. Overall, we lost by 6:12. Since it clashes with our normal Saturday session, my colleague, Debbie Fan, will come and take my place this Saturday. 4 Aug 2003: Just to remind you all that there will be no badminton session this coming Saturday. Apart from that, our Saturday sessions will run without any break until April next year. Our last session featuring one hour free tuition in court 3 for interested members proved to be rather chaotic. We have decided to postphone it for now. Our honorary and voluntary coach, Mr. Chan To Woo, will be happy to assist you in improving your skills in the area between two courts. You may need to wait in line of course. A big thank you to Mr. Chan. Our club will start a new series of training sessions for children aged 8-11 from Nov 03 to Jan 04. There will be a trial on 1 November 2003 from 2pm-4pm at Island East Sports Centre and the best 18 will be admitted. Once admitted, there will be 10 training sessions every Saturday from 2pm-4pm at Island East Sports Centre. The coach is refered to us by HKBA and used to teach talented young players. Please let me know if your children is interested. 10 Jul 2003: First of all, our session time will change back to 4-6pm from this Saturday onwards. I hope it suits everyone better. Last Sunday, we lost 6:13 against "Friends of Titus". The match last for 6 hours, much like a marathon. Our first match was against South China («nµØP|) on Saturday's evening. They are very strong and we lost to them by 8 games to 1. Wong Kam Wing and Lam Yan Kit secured one game and became our heros for the evening. The next day, we needed to play Tung Fong (ªF¤è). We were tired after the match the day before and were in a huge disadvantageous position. Despite lossing 8 games to 1, the scores of the individual games were much closer. In a few games, we lost only by two points. For the past four months, our team have played brilliantly and had a very strong team spirit. They deserve a big round of applause! We shall compete again next year, with more teams. 20 Jan 2003: Yesterday, our Badminton team won the match against "Sheung Yu" by a stunning 9:0. Results were as follows: 1) Wong Kam Wing/ Lam Yan Kit 21:7(win) 21:8(win) 21:11(win) 2) Chan To Wo/ Ng Chi Ching 21:7(win) 21:5(win) 21:14(win) 3) Johnson Wong/ Raymond Fan 21:13(win) 21:12(win) 21:10(win) By winning all three matches, we became the top of our group. We will compete again in April in the finals, in which there will only be 3 teams including us. So, worst come to worst, we will still be no.3. Well done team! 12 Jan 2003: Our badminton team has won another match yesterday by 7 games to 2 against "Green Moon". The results were: 1) Lam Yan Kit/Wong Kam Wing 21:2 (win) 21:7 (win) 21:6 (win) 2) Chan To Wo/ Danny Lo 21:8 (win) 21:2 (win) 15:21 (loss) 3) Lam Yiu Keung/ Kenneth Chan (wearing Wong Kam Wing's lucky eye-glasses!) 21:15(win) 21:10 (win) 10:21 (loss) Our next match will be on 19 Jan 02 against Sheung Yu (A). Since Tsuen Wan Badminton Club beat Sheung Yu (A) 7:2 yesterday, and we are stronger than Tsuen Wan Badminton Club, we stand a good chance. If we won, we would be qualified for the finals in April. 5 Jan 2003: I am pleased to announce that our badminton team has won the first round of the Men's doubles League yesterday by 5 games to 4. Results were as follows: 1) Kenneth Chan/Chan To Wo 17:21(loss),21:11(win),21:14(win) 2) Lam Yan Kit/ Ng Chi Ching 19:21(loss), 21:16(win), 19:21(loss) 3) Danny Lo/ Raymond Fan 7:21(loss), 21:7(win), 21:9(win) Congratulations to all the players! Our next match will be on 12 Jan 03 (Sun) against a team call "Green Moon". |
