Alyson Greer
Alyson graduated in May, 2005 as a vocal performance major, with a minor in music education at The Boston Conservatory. She performed in The Boston Conservatory Chorale and in composers concerts.
Raised in Doylestown, Pennsylvania by her parents, Alyson has thankfully survived the antics and tortures of her older brother. Her dabbling in music began at the young and sprightly age of 4 with Suzuki Piano. Instantly she fell in love! Along with studying piano for 14 years, Alyson has seriously studied the oboe for 8 years and voice for 6 years and still going.
Through out her primary and secondary education Alyson has been extremely involved with many school ensembles. Yes, Alyson is a self proclaimed band geek! She has played piano in jazz bands, oboe in school concert bands and orchestras and district band and orchestras. She has played in over 6 pit orchestras, and played mallet percussion in Central Bucks High School Wests Marching Bucks. Alyson has sung in many select choirs which allowed her to perform at the White House, Carnegie Hall, Boscovs Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade and many cathedrals in the metropolitan area. Her choir experience includes premiering numerous choral works throughout the metropolitan area as well.
Community based experience includes the Youth Orchestra and Wind Ensembles of Bucks County, Curtis Settlement School in Philadelphia, and soloing and performing in the many ensembles at Lenape Valley Presbyterian Church.
Although Alysons life is filled with music, her interests expand far beyond. In her spare time (as rare as it is), Alyson was extremely involved at The Boston Conservatory. She served as a Resident Assistant, a member of Student Government Association, and The Tent (The Boston Conservatorys Christian Fellowship). Alyson also writes poetry, watercolors, needlepoints, enjoys working out, skiing, going to folk festivals, concerts and is an activist against starvation imagery in the media.
Alysons hopes and dreams for her career include becoming a music therapist, an oratorio vocalist, a music educator, a special education teacher and a certified Alexander Technique instructor. She also hopes to get a Ph.D. in theology. Personally, Alyson desires to travel the world (possibly as a missionary), marry and have children, write a best seller, become a fluent signer, and be happy and joyous for no apparent reason.
Random facts: favorite movie is The Princess Bride, favorite book is Tuck Everlasting, favorite food is anything that includes chocolate and favorite colors are purple and green. Now, if that isnt enough about Alyson Leigh Greer for you, then too bad! Dance like no one is watching, Love like it is never going to hurt, Sing like no one is listening, and Live like it is heaven on earth.
