About Iota Beta Chapter
Sigma Alpha Iota was founded on June 12, 1903 at the University School of Music in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Our seven founders wanted to create a music sorority that would aim for the highest standards of musicianship and for promotion of the highest type of music. We are a professional music fraternity that brings together collegate and alumnae women who have a sincere interest in music.
In 1937, a group of girls in Murray State University's music department, along with Price Doyle, investigated the possibility of establishing a women's music organization. Sigma Alpha Iota was chosen.  On February 3, 1939 the Iota Beta chapter was installed. Since then, we have become highly involved in many music activities on campus, including hosting All Campus Sing, Athena Festival, and co-producing Campus Lights.
