THE AWAKENING
By
Sandra Osborne
The day you left
I cried in the rest room
A curious mental phenomena
Considering I hardly knew you
An earth shattering experience nevertheless.
A sudden unbearable awareness of a great loss.
The mirror reflected my face
Hurt and betrayed.
I howled like a baby abandoned
A soul shaking response
To the moment
As the knife twisted deeper
Into my bleeding heart.
What is this sensation?
What is its purpose?
Why have I suddenly lost control?
What gnaws at the mind?
What chains the spirit?
What tears apart the body, mind and soul?
Suddenly, as if in answer
Lightning struck in a flash
The sky fell in
But the earth did not crack open
And swallow me up
And love just discovered
Lay scattered at my feet
Like so much dust.
The harsh revelation –
A roar from the Master.
Come back! The cycle is incomplete!
We have much to do together
You and I.
Unaware, you leave behind
Unexplored sandy beaches, coconut trees
The love of a good woman
Respect, devotion
And all the joy you can hold
In one lifetime.
